In LOL Riot has recently started experimenting with an ascension like system. But there is a twist, it's technically been reported that Riot WILL allow Academies to play in tier 1 if they earn it. Could this be a direction they take in Valorant too? I mean it would fix situations like the current BBL one. But I think it's a terrible idea

Not even an idea anymore, it's a reality, either TH or KC will have 2 teams in LEC's first split next year. I don't know what they're thinking
It's too dangerous and it doesn't make sense considering what the goal of an academy team is supposed to be
As much as I'd like it, wouldn't it create conflict of interest situations? Imagine an Academy from a Tier 1 team gets to VCT and the Tier 1 team needs a win to make playoffs or a win for an extra champs point and they internally tell the academy to throw when they play against the main team.
Yes it definitely would create a conflict of interest, but apparently Riot says they can put measures in place to avoid it? Not sure how tf that's possible.
It's actually not a hypothetical, EMEA Masters finals is KC Blue vs Los Heretics. Which means either TH or KC will have 2 teams competing on next years first LEC Split.
The only way this works is the academy spot need to be bought out by some other org while keeping the same players
Maybe this is the true purpose of Riot's decision. It's a money-making scheme for T1 teams lmao. Doing so incentivizes teams to build academy teams

- KC GC (Even if they are 2 non GC player) can participate to ascention, it's a rule that is commonly forget because nobody think it's possible to have a team that can qual to ascention. Even tho I want to see Roundbert academy with Flor, Bob, another amazing GC player, and 2 amazing male talent (Sinatraa) try to qualify in 2026, would be EPIC
