Not trying to shit on anything. This is a genuine question to understand.
What makes it different and preferable to movies, shows, books whatever. Like why does it have to be drawn in japanese style?

I grew up with anime, and i think it's just simple once you watch it's becoming addictable
i never watched anime, but my guess is that there is not much media which properly caters to the teen/young adult mind so anime is the best option and it stays with them
The teen/young adult focus is a good point. I wonder why other media has failed in this demographic in the past 10-15 or so years
yeah, something which i noticed a lot in me and my friends, while i didn't watch anime they have become anime watchers due to this reason; when we are kids we watch cartoons with a fairly simple plot and basic stuff which obviously growing old doesn't interest us and the mainstream media for the adults is not that exciting and catering for the childish nature still left in the teen.
I grew up on it and it’s something with endless possibilities, regarding plots and styles. There’s something for everyone
I do think the creative limits of animation exceeds that of “IRL”. It broadens my imagination and pulls me from the real world, idk if that makes sense LUL.
Ik anime might be off putting to some but I do wish everyone would give it a try bc not everything is like that people portray it as
its pretty nice to watch it, especially things that u wont be able to see in movies or series normally like power systems and other fantasy stuff
I watch anime the same way i watch movies, shows, or read books. it's just entertainment and it's good to get invested into a story.. I don't really think of anime as being very different in comparison to other forms of media
