Astra, good star management is not easy, tbh i dont think either are very hard
Pretty much all agents in the game are easy to learn. It's surprising when people can't even use util or be bothered to try using utility since pressing F1 can tell you what every ability does. Astra is definitely more difficult to learn since the Astral Plane mode can be a bit disorienting. Omen's phased form can sometimes feel weird to use for new players. Mastering the agents is a whole other thing and it's really down to timing the utility. I've seen too many smokes players put down a smoke well before the team was near the choke they're attacking from.
I love in Ascendant Ranked when teammates have less than 30 seconds in the round and they have full green util
As a smokes main, Omen is definitely easier at lower elo, you can play for yourself really easily.
I can't speak for higher elo but it seems that Astra is in general harder to play, she still needs a lot of coordination, her shit on offense doesn't do much unless comboed with another ability (or used for postplant but that's more niche), whereas the paranoia is quick and easy to use.
My argument for omen being harder is that knowing when to paranoia and when to save it (since it’s so op) as well as tp (since it’s an unusual ability for a passive role) is harder than suck/stun which are fairly intuitive. The biggest gap is the actual smokes. Astral form is a slightly harder brim iPad, it’s very easy to place smokes and one ways quickly, while it takes more practice to quickly smoke on omen, especially one ways, especially on elevation
I think Omen is harder. The smoke interface is harder and you have to be conscious of where you are on the map because it isn't global. TP-ing offensively without int-ing requires skill, and the flash is kind of easy but you have to time it right and be positioned right.
Astra requires you to be pro-active with where you place and recall your stars so the cool down doesn't screw you over. And using the pull back as a tool requires skill. Also Astra's global smoke interface means your position on the map is irrelevant.
I read the whole thread and I agree with the points the top comments are making
astra because you have limited stars and you think about your util a lot more than omen
on omen you're either using a smoke which recharges every so often or a paranoia
and as a smokes you're almost all the time, 2nd last contact (initiator is the last contact)
I think smoking is easier by a small margin on astra
but using the blind is much easier than stuns/sucks
so overall I'd say omen is easier
astra is harder imo. you are so vulnerable in astral form and every ability requires it. omen ult is also a lot easier to use imo. learning astra is harder, mastering omen is a lot harder though because he encourages a lot of creativity.
Astra is much easier to play at a baseline but harder to get big value out of since the windows for her util are a lot narrower compared to omen blind
Astra, it's very comms dependent I'd say which you wouldn't find in lower elo.
Besides, if you want to stun anyone you need to go into her ult, deploy the star and wait for it to be deployed and then activate stun. By that time the enemy might rotate the entire site, not to mention you see a fkin star infront of you that means a util is definitely coming.
And her ult is also not easy, kindof hard to position the wall the way you want
Omen is harder, his smokes and tp gives you a lot of space and potential. Astra looks harder because everyone exaggerates it.
