So let's say that you get falsely accused of something, and the accuser can't prove you did it, and it's merely a word-against-word case. In this situation is it wrong ̶i̶f̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶b̶o̶s̶s̶ ̶f̶i̶r̶e̶s̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶j̶o̶b̶ and most people assume that you're guilty?

edit since people seem to be missing the point: suppose that instead of getting fired your contract runs out but because of these accusations no one wants to hire you. Is it also wrong in this case.

Normal life post me-too.
I consider myself a leftist feminist but being able to destroy someone life with false accusation without any effort, does sounds as fascism to me (And not really feminism)

In all seriousness, the burden of proof is on the accuser, and if something cannot be proved/can be disproved, then you have a defamation case and/ or a wrongful firing case ( if ur in America, idk about how other countries work)
hypothetically

Ok forget what I said about getting fired since it doesn't really apply in this case. Also since it's word vs word I doubt a defamation case will go anywhere although I really have no clue how it works

im taking a law class rn in college
iirc since its spoken word its slander (spoken defemation) its clearly had an effect on the workplace culture as well as your reputation so if im not mistaken you can sue under pretense of either mental duress ( that this rumor has caused you undo harm mentally) though im told that is finicky cause some states require a physical manifestation of ur mental distress i,e ulcers, chronic headaches, etc.

Or as I said, something related to slander. It could also be a financial thing if you can prove that you were limited in your opportunities, via either a promotion being retracted or not being able to find another job because of a bad reference.

I AM NOT A LAWER OR A LAW STUDENT IM TAKING LAW BECAUSE ITS RELATED TO MY MAJOR PLEASE SEEK ACTUAL COUNSEL IF YOU THINK THERE IS A CASE TO BE HAD

i don't think you need as much proof as a criminal court case (firing doesn't end a life, life in prison pretty much does). but i'd say it requires more proof like a civil court case, which definitely needs the accuser to prove or show some evidence

depends on what the fuck you did, someone could fire you for using ai and someone could fire you for touching someone
