So let's say that you get falsely accused of something, and the accuser can't prove you did it, and it's merely a word-against-word case. In this situation is it wrong ̶i̶f̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶b̶o̶s̶s̶ ̶f̶i̶r̶e̶s̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶j̶o̶b̶ and most people assume that you're guilty?
edit since people seem to be missing the point: suppose that instead of getting fired your contract runs out but because of these accusations no one wants to hire you. Is it also wrong in this case.
