in no world does lamine yamal deserve second
sure ousmane dembulance can take it but how is raphinha 5th
how does salah’s epl-breaking season go under vitinha
pedri in 11th you have to be joking
tf did vini do all year he’s 16th
because if u actually watch the football games and not stats or highlights u can see he is the main creative threat for Barça, u can take Raphinha out and he is easier to replace than a player who creates so many qualitative and numerical superiorities, even if he still needs to work on his finishing to improve his G/A numbers if u look at underlying numbers and watch the games u can see how much impact he has, even just from the fact that he forces the other team to put at least 2 players on him or get cooked
Normal career development for footballers, its just that in recent years there is an obsession over finding the new wonderkid, players specially the ones with the qualities of Mbappe peaking at 27yo is normal. Sometimes it just doesnt work out at a certain club for whatever reason, maybe wrong club, wrong city or wrong time so its normal that he grows stronger after such a hard period and fulfills his potential at a different club
definition of plastic and glory hunter respectfully, changing teams to support another npc club like Barça because of Messi only to go back to Liverpool is crazy hahaha, at least u are not one of those idiots that support 3 different big teams but basically it sucks to see european sports get a bit ruined by globalization to US/Asia markets, thankfully in Italy or Germany local fans still get priority for tickets otherwise we would just get no fan support and 0 atmosphere games like EPL
Ballon dor is a popularity contest that’s for sure. But atleast in that I am happy Dembele won I don’t care about other rankings from #2 and below. I was worried his achievements this year will go unnoticed.
You have seen many occasions that popularity has won. Messi & Ronaldo both have a bdor where they shouldn’t have, Salah won a puskas award the year bale and Ronaldo scored those overhead kick goals (even Salah himself has scored better goals than the one that won puskas).
exactly
i would let it slide if he was >=7th; how is he in ELEVENTH
list of everyone who’s above him:
ousmane dembele (deserved ig but not first)
lamine yamal (deserved??????)
vitinha (deserved)
salah (deserved)
raphinha (deserved)
hakimi (deserved?)
mbappe (ehhhh)
cole palmer (no)
donnarumma (ehhh, prolly not)
nuno mendes (deserved)
in my opinion no. vini outperformed rodri in both the champions league and national league. the only argument for rodri would be the euro mvp, which he basically stole, since yamal, dani olmo and nico williams deserved it way more. what really pushed him was the european bias, that’s what gave him the ballon dor. like, he won by a landslide in europe, while the rest of the world leaned towards vini. there were even european journalists justifying their vote for rodri because “he has a college degree” lol
goals: dembele (35) > raphinha (34)
assists: raphinha (25) > dembele (16)
g/a: raphinha (59) > dembele (51)
ucl goals: raphinha (13) > dembele (8)
ucl assists: raphinha (8) > dembele (6)
ucl g/a: raphinha (22) > dembele (14)
league goals: dembele (21) > raphinha (18)
league assists: raphinha (11) > dembele (8)
league g/a: dembele = raphinha (29)
trophies: dembele (quad) > raphinha (domestic treble)
league: raphinha (laliga) > dembele (psg)
clutch moments: raphinha >>> dembele
final ranking: dembele 1st, raphinha 5th
that wouldn’t be fair because the main argument for lamine is his dribbles completed
raphinha v dembele is a better comparison because they are more similar?? idk but these are the 2 in contention for me
in terms of ga lamine has more league assists but raphinha had more ucl assists
for all the other ga stats raphinha wins by a blowout
many worse players won it before Messi and Ronaldo and lets be honest u only watched certain players in highlights or what old people told you, the careers of retired players get glazed a lot because everyone forgets about the bad parts, no1 remembers Robben being trash in many big games and shitting the bed vs Chelsea in CL final or Zidane being inconsistent
ballon d'or has always been a popularity contest, it could masquerade as a serious award when the only two people in the running already have everybody that watches football split into two ~50/50 fanbases so it actually came down to who performed better, now that there isn't always a clear favourite it becomes more about favouritism
