This map is actually so bad in pro play, mid is so bad noone ever goes there, a is impossible to hold from backsite and 90% of times u get rekt by a dart, and b is the worst part, every time u get a kayo knife down u literally won the round.

I agree but still idk why I feel I have seen abyss more than corrode at this event
Think a new map feels alot more like a gamble to pick against a team if they havent showed alot on it
yea it's basically retake simulator. you cannot hold or flood early in this map.
The thing is that u always have to come majorly out of one choke and flanking is really hard
And then the retakes suck ass too because it takes 5 business days to rotate, even longer if you have no mid control
i rarely see a one v one retake in B site abyss. it's either they win or lose the team fight.
and also rarely see someone actually flank thru CT-haven.
crazy how DRX has a higher defense win rate than attack win rate on this map
Abyss is actually such a bad map. It's the only map where I am like getting 2 rounds on defense isnt bad because how tf are you ever meant to hold B. Just forced to give it up and then play into aids spam
The issue is the map is very clearly designed around retaking with Harbor cuz they wanted a map where he was good.
The issue on top of that was readily apparent in BLG game. Harbor is dogshit and so it doesnt matter. Yeah Rushia trolled quite a bit on him too icl but even the "correct" stuff gets mediocre value.
the map is not really designed around harbor. From an analytical point of view, icebox is much better for harbor. You clearly don't understand the game well enough, the map is actually, in my opinion, designed for astra. Harbor's range is absolutely HORRIFIC, and he has no dome smokes, and one VERY limited wall and two cascades that barely work. The whole point is that the map is gigantic, so it's good for global agents like yoru and astra. When the map was released, yoru was very bad and astra had almost no play. The game designers wanted these two to have more play, so they just made large maps where global agents are useful - aka astra (global smokes, more than omen) and yoru, who can tp cross map
No shit its astra AND harbor map man they expected both + either yoru + sova or jett flashes not even they have illusion of solo harbor
retakes and takes are designed for both at once but just get solo omen'd instead
it's not an astra+harbor map either. Astra+omen is just objectively better, but in any case astra solo is just better, plus yoru and then your choice
all you did was list why he's dogshit which we obviously know, but they still designed map specifics around his two walls and made plants and spam common to play to his design. But because he's piss bad, and I'd know, I played him for ages, it doesn't matter if the map is designed to his strengths because his strengths aren't actually real strengths and his weaknesses are overbearing.
The biggest problem with abyss is the long ah rotation times and the infamous jump
we can debate the jump all we want, even if strategically good, it obviously is not fun to watch
also the rotation times are not fun for defense, which is part of the reason why most teams have it attack sided. For example, with g2, the retakes they won were all really close, because it takes forever for everyone to show up and then flood in.
I think one of the biggest problems is the anchoring on sites, especially towards b as u just get rekt by a kayo knife every time u try anchoring on site
