G2's Perfect Macro playstyle is mostly smokes and mirrors, it only works when opponents respect their timings and Utility. They farm in NA because most teams end up copying G2 playstyles and play straight into their hands.

They also never get tested. Playing and scrimming against NA teams is useless, the region is a farmers league with sub par tier 2 teams and talent so no way for G2 is actually refine their playstyle.

APAC and China on the other hand scrim with each other regularly, on top of that EMEA has different game philosophies in all its different sub region which leads to much faster improvement. These regions are going to get better, NA is not at this pace.

They are not a bad team obviously, all 5 of their players are one of the best in their respective roles, Its just playing in NA has capped their ceiling somewhat.

Even the LATAM and Brazilian teams scrim Tier 2 NA.

T2 Brazil and LATAM is in its own bubble

T1 yes, they genuinely looked terrible vs DRG. TH, no

honestly icl that was rough from t1 but i’ll just assume it’s first match jitters and hopefully they play better vs th, because if they show better form than g2 did then it might get scary

Lowkey just wish I could put them in a year in APAC. I definitely think this would test them. I lowkey hate franchising because it has created this environment where the regions have distinct playstyles, Americas is known for this disciplined style (overly disciplined at times) and my understanding is that APAC & China has a lot more aggressive comps while EMEA appears to be a mix (I don't know much about al the regions). Wish we had more tourneys with more mixed regional representation.

If G2 came from APAC with the same 5 players they would be the best team itw

I kind of disagree, mainly because of EDG. Even with some scrims with APAC, China was considerably weaker competition than any other region even in 2024. EDG’s growth as a team was due to their experience they accumulated in international events over time, which culminated in their Champs 2024 run.

G2 have had plenty of international experience, including facing the best APAC teams. The reality is, they just get beat sometimes by teams who play better and prep better that specific day. It happens to even the best of teams.

I don't like to call edg's run a miracle run but several things went right for them to lift the trophy .

number 1 was Kangkang, Smoggy, Chichoo and Nobody playing at unbelievable level with Simon supporting them.

number 2 the Meta and Map pool favored them (neon cough cough).

number 3 it was a stylistic Matchup which worked against the teams they beat in TH, Lev and SEN, they still lost to G2 in the group stage.

G2 losing to PRX in Toronto and TH weren't random off days or them being cold, They are consistent examples of their Macro being disrespected.

I am not saying G2 cant lift the trophy or level up they way EDG did last year but having that as a win condition is not reliable.

I disagree, G2 plays really well and even someone like mini is constantly praising them. What they do is mostly well done, just might be easier to execute against the weaker opponents of NA, that being said, their biggest problem is pressure imo

They play good Valorant, I am not saying they dont, They are still one of the best teams in the world
its just not being tested in your own region doesnt help
Also being under pressure when this is your 5th international tournament in a row is not a valid excuse

I agree that when you have enough experience the mental shouldn't impact much, but I think they have very high expectations on themselves, once things go different than expected, combined with everyone else's expectations on them, they crumble a bit.
