So, I watched T1 vs GENG at MSI, and want to play LOL (haven' played MOBA ever before), but have heard a lot of negativity surrounding it; could you list some pros and cons and suggest whether i should play it or not

slight exaggeration but she didnt have a good time, just constant flaming and stream of toxicity for someone who was new

people play their first game immediately against real players skipping all the bot games that are recommended first and expect to not get destroyed/flamed, and suddenly get upset when they lose.

imagine playing your first fps and immediately playing an unrated game, yeah you'll be traumatized too.

there's a reason comp doesn't unlock until you've played ~60 hours of games

during t1 game a lot of threads were spawning on vlr as well and people seemed quite hyped for it, so it has increased my curiosity tenfolds

Its a complex game, very fun tho and u can legit play it on a 30fps laptop the community is extremely toxic and it can get annoying if u solo carry top lane and then just lose due to ur other lanes losing

nah don't listen to the community its fun to play

pros: very fun w/ friends, interesting to learn, winning gives you huge dopamine hits, much less deadtime than valorant, much less luck involved, more 1v9 agency

cons: steep learning curve

league isn't even that toxic anymore, just /mute if anyone gives you trouble

I am always for trying new things, you can try it out. It's very fun when playing with friends.

Cons:

  1. have to learn a massive amount of knowledge about 150 champions.
  2. Teammates can make the game unwinnable for you. You cant solo ace like in valo due to gold snowball. Its like a toddler fighting prime mike tyson.
  3. Massive learning curve to play the game at even bronze level.
  4. High risk of popping a vein in your forehead from rage you have never felt in your life.

Pro:

  1. has a bunch of addicting/satisfying mechanics
  2. When the game is really good it feels fantastic. One of the best feelings in games i have ever felt

Here's what I would recommend

  1. Watch a beginner video (like the basics of the game, so that you understand how it generally flows)
  2. Watch a video breaking down the roles, and try to narrow your focus to 2-3 roles that look interesting (playing feels very different than watching, obviously).
  3. Do NOT skip the inbuilt tutorial
  4. Play bot matches until account level 10. Bots are very bad in league, you need to consistently be able to farm them. Play 1 game of intro bots, then jump to intermediate bots. Focus on trying the 2-3 interesting roles on 1-2 champions, try to get some reps and mechanical comfort on each champion and get used to the unique MOBA control scheme.
  5. After your bot matches, decide which role you enjoyed most (its okay to play a few more matches if you need to decide this, but don't try to find the "best" role or go shopping around---find a role you enjoy). Play swiftplay (SP) games with a champion you liked for that role get reps on them. Generally play safe to avoid dying too much (inting).
  6. Before you play SP, watch videos from a few creators on your role. As a Jungle main, I watched PerryJG. Alois is very popular for top lane. You might not understand everything, but as you watch and play more you will.
  7. After playing some SP games, play normal draft mode. Don't be afraid to change things up (you most likely will change champions, maybe you will change your role too) if you don't like them, but don't go around shopping for which champion/role you like best: there are many fun options. Champion competence is most important, and the similar conditions will help you get a better feel and understanding for the game.
  8. Play until level 30, unlock competitive queue. Unlike Valorant you can climb very fast in League, or very slowly, because you have a lot of agency in games (hence the whole 1v9 culture).

its fun but 80% of the times you get griefed and the game is unwinnable and youre held hostage for 20-30 minutes. atleast in val you can still have fun when youre 10-2 down, impossible in league

If you really want to get into league, you need to find videos on laning basics, cuz being good at laning basically makes you better than 50% of the player base. There’s a lot of videos on this, but AloisNL’s videos are a pretty good general overview.

#30
luminescience

Frags

It is that bad but you can mute people
You can’t do anything against people who grieve tho
Also once you install you’ll get to play a few tutorials and I recommend just playing against bots for a bit

#31

how steep would you consider the learning curve

#32
Uribaba

Frags

Very steep but if you have a quite a bit of free time in your hands I'd say give it a try you'll have lots of fun trying out all the new champs except when you try to play them in your actual games..also don't forget to mute the chat and pings if you get spam pinged
