If you’re wondering why PRX fans on Twitter seem crazy and ready to cancel (witch hunt) everything in their path... here’s the story

Thai fans make up one of PRX’s biggest fanbases, and most of them are high school or university girls.

They’re true hardcore K-pop fans it’s a huge part of their culture.

Being obsessed with Idols, Boy bands and Girl groups is completely normal for them. Just look at Lisa from BLACKPINK, BamBam from GOT7, and Natty from KISS OF LIFE. It's in their blood.

And guess what? They’ve brought that same energy into the Valorant scene through PRX. all thanks to CGRS who introduced them to the team.
(CGRS and HRK are two of the biggest gaming influencers in Thailand, and more than half of their fanbase is female.)

So in K-pop culture if someone messes with their idols, they go full witch hunt no holding back. (Just look at what happened to JonahP last year and Mr. EggHead this year.)

It’s just part of their culture. You’re expected to give their idols special treatment no trash talk, no banter. Just praise them or leave them alone.

They freak out over anything related to the players and the team. I don’t get that feeling either, but their passion is just too intense. I don’t think they can process anything slowly or with attention to detail that’s why they’ve fallen for ragebait many times throughout Valorant history.

But if you go along with their waves, they can bring you huge benefits. Mass spam viewing and likeing YouTube videos is one of their regular rituals every time their idols release a new video or stream.

In the sports community, we’re okay with banter, rage bait, mocking, and making fun of teams or athletes because it’s part of the competition.
But in the idol world, idols are just trained to perform and make fans obsess over them. There’s no winning, losing, or any kind of sports-like competition.
That’s why PRX fans don’t get it and often fall for banter and rage bait. I hope they eventually learn how to be part of the sports world.

That's just not true. Traditional sports communities also have toxicity in their own ways, some of which includes all the things you listed in addition to physical/psychological violence.

You might not like the fans you highlighted in your original post but don't make the mistake of assuming they represent their whole community, or that there aren't equally toxic and/or "sensitive" fans in your own community.

I don't think its kpop problem every large fanbase has this problem. Football twitter mainly consisting of Africans and south asians have this problem too, easily get ragebaited then harass anyone criticizing their fav team/player.

What you said is mostly true. HRK is Thailand’s biggest OG gaming channel, and over the years, it has somehow attracted more female fans than male, which is pretty odd for a gaming channel. HRK and CGRS are close friends, and he's actually the reason CGRS became a pro player. When people heard that CGRS was back in esports and saw how things played out at Masters Tokyo, many of them became PRX fans, even though he's no longer on the roster. Since most of them are female, they haven’t really experienced the kind of banter most gamers are used to. There is also a cultural difference at play, so ragebaiting doesn’t sit well with them.

That's the lore. But my main question is, how can you even tell that those people are from Thailand? I checked a lot of quote tweets, and 80% of them aren't even Thai. So blaming Thai fans for this is crazy.

My Thai friends and I looked through everything we could find. We found that around 50% of the people weren't Thai girls and they weren’t mad at Sideshow. Most of them just laughed at his joke and knew it was bait. About 20% were random users, but around 30% had Thai letters in their names and were genuinely mad at him. The main account that posted and shared the short clip of him the one that got thousands of likes and hundreds of thousands of views was from Thailand. You can check it yourself. That account played a major role in starting the wave of hate that spread through the community.

Oh, he was just one of the first gaming YouTubers in Thailand. He came early, and he’s funny and polite that’s it. He doesn’t show his face, so people can imagine whatever they want. I think that’s an important key to his success.
As for CGRS, he’s just HRK’s friend with a soft personality, so people see him as the 'cute younger brother' of HRK. It’s more about the story than how they look.
They’re from the OG era of Thai gamers.
