riot has always been pushing the narrative that champs is THE tournament to win .... champs trophy is rarer than masters ; hence its worth more
0 confirmation that this is 'officially' true. If you want a straight up answer then ask a riot rep
check VCT's twitter, there is not a single time that prx been called champions, they use the word "winners" insdead.

WE all know VCT only actually started in 2022 and Champions 2021 had no crowd, studio tournament, dinosaur era, Derke had hair... But if they managed to dog walk Gambit with Kiles going -31, they deserve to be World Champions

champions is like worlds the final tournament of the year to see who is best team by the end of year they are champions of that year
Yeah, they're not VCT 2025 champions. They're Masters winners, but you could still say they're Masters Toronto champions.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with calling them Toronto Champions.
I personally don't like calling the masters winners World Champions though. That, I would object.
That is seriously looking so much into the semantics. I wouldn't read into it so much. Yes champs is more lucrative, but to win a master's you need to beat the best teams in the world on a global stage, this therefore makes the winner the best team in the world and the world champions (just another term for winner) until the next global event. It does not get more simple than that.
Also the only reason Riot calls the teams 'champions' is because they are trying to stick with the branding of the event being called 'champs'
I mean, they are champions of a Masters tournament. But regarding the champions of the VCT Season, yes, it's the winner of the Champions tournament
