Ik people gonna say you a rage banter but I genuinely agree.
Not a bad studio by any means with some good movies, but I do feel like it’s greatness is often heavily exaggerated.
very few shows have the emotional depth to pull out a scene like erwin vs armin, in the same 3 episode arc as levi vs the beast titans 1v1, and you mix in erwins charge between those.
The issue I think fans have with endings, is that endings are there usually as metaphors and have a deeper meaning than simply being the last episode, they usually wrap up the theme of the show.
So thats why the ending to AOT might be anticlimactic or poor to some, but if you're writing a show and want to carry out certain ideas I think it works well.
aot ending was objectively bad
maybe it delivered a message but it just made 0 sense and every1 knows it
ending did a piss poor job of wrapping up the theme of the show, if the rest of the series wasn't an 11/10 it wouldn't have gotten away with a sloppy rushed ending
i dont agree with got being overrated at all
it's just the trademark good show, the acting is impeccable and the characters are interesting, the plot went to shit - but this happens to a lot of shows
I've enjoyed TWD recently, atleast the first few seasons, much more so than anime like code geass, again to me if you only count anime, code geass is like 7-8/10 but once you introduce other television its a bit lower - same goes for most anime

In my personal opinion I think that if your story cannot be good then you just that arent that good of a show. at best thats a 8/10 if you story is bad.
I feel like you rating geass lower than a 7 is due to you not liking medium of anime and not the show itself. The story is super consistent, the characters are well written and interesting, the animation and design is mid but pretty much everything else is a 8 or above.

that's fair, to be clear I think game of thrones is one of the best stories ever told, in the books and in the show - I just don't like the ending of the show
and you can blame the show ending being poor because the books have only been halfway completed - I'm sure if they were game of thrones would retire as the single best piece of televesion ever, up until the show split from the books every episode was pretty much a 10/10 or 9/10
the Game of Thrones book series was objectively the best fantasy written since Tolkien (books 1-3 that is) and the show did an excellent job until Season 4 or 5
It's pretty crazy to see how low people rate AOT and Game of Thrones now compared to how they were rating those series while they were airing weekly, goes to show you how failing to wrap things up affects the publics view of the entire show
never read the books tbf, so I cant comment on it but the show itself really went downhill, imo opinion the introduction and especially conclusion are worth 70% to the story, so any show/movie/book who fail to conclude itself properly will heavily get marked down
aot before final few chapters -> 20/10
aot after ending -> 8/10

Started GoT last week and finished all 6 seasons-dont really plan on watching S7-8 but I will say it was amazing. However I think I still have seen better shows and AoT is one of them
Perhaps we should put it this way: different domains demand distinct criteria for evaluation. Art films have their own standards, commercial films follow different benchmarks, and comics operate under unique principles. You cannot apply the standards of one medium to measure the merits of another.
I wanna add something to this: detective Conan is fucking UNMATCHED when it comes to plot twists (link click is an exception)
