actually shanghai, chengdu, chongqin, hangzhou, suzhou, xian, wuhan, and there are so many places are better

Mmm to be honest, shenyang is nice here but if you are going to china for the first time I recommend other place like shanghai, chengdu or beijing as they are close to other cities you can visit and they are also probably more tourist friendly and better. If you plan on visiting in winter one of the best places to visit is harbin!

how many people would you say speak english in the big cities? and do you have any recommendations in overcoming the language barrier? because shockingly, i do not know a drop of chinese, and I often feel afraid to go to places where I don't somewhat know the native language or where at least some of the population know even a little bit of english.
