there are NOT much coaches that are at least on an above average level.
that's why Bonkar has a shit ton of options even tho he hasn't accomplished much

which coaches would you say are above average level , overrated, and downright bad.
above average: dummy? (TS coach during Split 2 last year), mCe (but he's still getting his degree?), fRoD, Anderzz, DrewSpark, JoshRT, immi, Gugli, Potter, Fields, 6fingers, Ewok, Warbirds, solo, hsk
overrated: Itopata, juv3nile, Elevated, Happy, Goked, Gorilla, temoc, Kaplan, Gunter, Alecks, meow, bonkar, Zikz, faithz0r, FrosT, Jovi, SilkanoN, Autumn, termi, AfteR, EGO
downright bad: pipson, stk, peu, Carlao, XQQ, Melofovia, NorthernLights, York, Septem7
sneaking ewok to above average is outright blasphemy to everyone else on the list
elevated,jovi aint even rated and u saying they are overrated
kaplan,alecks,frosT,autmn,termi aint overrated
alecks is VERY overrated, can't believe he was in the conversation for being as good as potter. sure his reyna harbor raze and sunset comp cooked, but i haven't seen prx do a set play in a hot second and they look very lost in macro at times
i mean that team is kinda formed that they cannot play structured like 5 aggro players
The are not a lot of VCT coaches to choose from because it's a very competitive space to get into. There are five professional player slots. There is one head coach spot and usually one ac spot. This means not only is there limited space but limited amount of people with experience. Some orgs can say "I trust you" and others just rotate people in and out.
On top of this, the amount of noise that exists around coaching it is hard to gauge whether or not a coach is doing a good job or if it is the players. The players are sort of held hostage to praise their coaching staff as they ultimately determine whether the players stay on the team. The structure is bad and its displaying it for everyone to see.
What we are missing are coaches with knowledge of tactical fps as a genre. The closest we get are coaches who were previously players but that does not guarantee that the player-coach can teach what they so easily wielded to be successful.
Although I agree that being a good player does not mean you'll be a good coach, I do think there are some players I would trust to become good coaches (namely Sacy and FNS)
Yeah I don't think that it's not possible. A good coach is a personality type. Crazy patience and a desire to see people succeed despite the sacrifice from you.
I think a lot of people discount coaching because they've been around teachers most of their lives and it's hard to see the value in what they do if you get it everyday for free.
i think as the game gets older and older there will be more options for new coaches.
