get rid of lower bracket in playoffs.
What is stopping the teams from playing to their maximum capability with lower bracket?
Do you really think that teams right now are willing to risk dropping down to lower bracket?
wouldn't sen fans be for it since sen won in a playoffs without a lower bracket????
if you're talking about madrid the Bo3 would've been a Bo5 meaning the series isnt decided???
He's talking about the fact that SEN lost to GEN.G the first time they played
look at the scores of the games lmao sen won 8 rounds in the 2 maps they lost. 1 more wouldve been easy for geng
He never says he's talking only about a Bo5 though
Edit: nevermind he's just stupid as fuck
mf regardless of it being single elim you can't call it great. there were so many meaningless games
KC vs FPX for example, literally meant nothing
The group stage was mid it should’ve been like the other tournaments true. But playoffs was great
but we also don't know if it'd of been better or not if it was single or double elim because each tournament is different(and with how it was formatted us speculating is a bit too ambitious)
like with Masters 3 berlin, I am of the opinion that it would've been better if it was in double elim
We would've of gotten
LR1A SEN vs acend(great match)
LR2A G2 vs SEN/acend (great match, it'd be the 3rd match between SEN and G2 at the event and an inter region match between G2 and acend)
and could've gotten
LR2B 100T vs VS great game, although knowing VS they might've just choked to KRU and i don't think KRU vs 100T would've been close
LR3 100T vs LR2A winner (another great match, yes i am confident 100T beats VS, no i am not debating this)
a 100T vs Envy rematch being the most likely lower bracket final (because the other side of their LR3 match is divided between SEN/acend/G2), and because of how rematches work(loser wins the rematch 2/3 of the time) we'd get a rematch of 100T vs GMB in the finals which is another huge banger
we can't exactly say the same for Lock\in because of the format, it'd be too hard to create a lower bracket, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be to the same extent as berlin because
GenG played LOUD the closest of any team(tied with DRX), they could've been a top 6 team at the event and instead they got relegated to 1 match
This works in reverse too.
the 2 most prevalent examples in my mind, Masters copenhagen and masters 1 Reykjavik, lose a lot of their legacy if you take away the lower bracket (both winners don't win, you miss out on both ZETA and FPX's lower bracket runs
edit: added a bit more context in some places, like "LR3"
no there would be too few games otherwise. i dont want a masters tournament to be like 10 games thats just boring
why is riot only holding 3 international events every year then? cs had 14 tier 1 tournaments last year and there was only 1 major instead of the usual 2
i want to see more events and keep losers bracket. and doesnt cs have multiple tournament organizers vs val with just riot?
It is well known that that the majority of teams who win come from the lower bracket, so removing it would help better teams
Source: I made it up
What can possibly be going on inside the head of someone who vouches for single elim instead of double elim .......
Having a lower bracket is better for both viewership and competitive integrity.
aren't people complaining that kickoff shouldn't have been single elim? now just imagine that with a tourney kekw trying to bring back when gambit dominated that single elim format
t1 vs weibo grand finals from worlds werent hype at all this doesnt make sense imo
Yeah that's true. though won't the lower brackets give some confidence to low tier teams? Like atleast teams like Global Esports feel more confident when playing lower brackets...
