Being first or second seed meant nothing, both teams were ready for playoffs. It was an absolutely meaningless game. TL played well, but it was pretty clear FNC just did the same stuff they did in lock/in, and they did that the entire split. It's going to be exciting to see what they have come up with for this. NRG has shown a lot this tournament already.
First VCT EMEA League Champs = meaningless. By that logic LOCK//IN even more useless.
Obvously they tried, but not enough to show new stuff. I think they value this international title a whole lot more than a regional one, and that's not really so strange. By comparison I think they also valued LOCK//IN more than VCT EMEA, after LOCK//IN their aim seemed to be solidly on tokyo. I guess we'll see what happens.

That's what makes it random. Some teams had honeymoon runs, while some needed time to adjust. Leviatan, Talon, 100T top 8 in Lock in couldn't even break in top 6 in regional leagues. NAVI out in groups, DRX struggling, LOUD in lower brackets.
Meanwhile underperformers Liquid,PRX won 1st seed eg dominating, EDG on a underdog run,

the most obvious thing you are missing on is the fact that fnatic has the group vods to study and counter nrg while nrg just have the vod from emea league where fnatic didnt even show most of their strats

That EMEA final doesnt mean anything... Fnatic spent all group and playoffs playing the same stuff since lock in. Everyone that knows fnatic, is aware that they like to make new stuff, and obviously they didnt show it yet.
Im a fnatic fan 1st and i support NRG in americas, if fnatic dont win the tournament i would like to NRG win it. But in this game, since its the 1st time these 2 teams meet and fantic didnt show anything new yet, i think NRG will have a hard time since they are a team that likes to prepare against the team they play.
Anyway, im sure it will be a really good match and unfortunately i wont watch it live since its going to be 4am for me.
