Japanese Valorant scene is dead

This video is how I feel about JP teams. Replace all the football terms with esports terms.

All of our teams suck. Free Something and Vici, I feel bad for him carrying 3 bots. Valorant in Japan is done. Watching JP league is like watching a very good ranked game. Everything other than the mechanical skills suck. I have zero hope for any Japanese team out there. At this point giving up is better rather than forcing ourselves to participate among pros.

Worst part is, JP viewership is actually insane. And Riot is not going to let go of this cashcow. ZETA and Japan will continue to get slots. And if teams want to give up on the game, Riot will somehow manage to involve JP in pro scene in order to get that viewership. All so we could see ourselves get fucked live on stage. It's over. This region isn't even washed, it was never good at any point. Look at Talon and Team Secret and then look at ZETA. ZETA probably has ten times better training conditions compared to TS and any other SEA team. And look at these disappointments. 3 years was not enough to get good enough for pro scene.

This is kind of like how Blue Lock portrayed Japan's football situation. In Blue Lock it is shown that Japan cannot do well on the international stage because we lack the ego necessary to win. They attach winning to luck factor. Instead of saying "I will win this" they say "I hope I win this". This is why we lose. I don't especially like Sentinels much, but one thing I like about them and teams from other regions such as NA or SA. It's that they say with confidence and arrogance that they will win. Some people may say that it's delusional. But this confidence and arrogance are partly good. This goes for anything in life. Nothing can be achieved with the shitty "I hope" attitude.
Either we import CIS players and get carried by them, kind of like France's international football team (joke) or we continue to lose every single event from now on.

i get being frustrated. but japan simply doesn't have the previous infrastructure or legacy of top level fps players (much less tac fps ones)

it sucks when your teams seem to struggle when its time to compete against the worlds best. but these are all regions / countries that have literal decades of experience in these types of games behind them. they have mentors, ex pros, an entire history of victories and losses

it takes time to become a top level region in these games. cant expect immediate results. zeta have already done so much in their 3rd place run for establishing the groundwork for the future, just have to be patient

Does SEA have decades worth of FPS legacy? What surprises me the most is that SEA as a region has much more ambition to be better at the game compared to Japan. Yes, it is true that consoles are more popular than PCs in Japan, but it isn't a small country and people still played shooter games like Call of Duty which often topped the charts in Japan with every new release. So saying that Japan has no shooter games legacy is wrong. No matter how small it is, it exists. Team Secret and Talon Esports performance this event made me so happy but the team I have been supporting for years, the entire region had an absolutely shameful display. If this is the same performance shown in masters Tokyo, I can't even imagine the embarrassment being there in the arena, watching the home team lose.

legacy as in International eyes? probably a few but we do have a shitton experience and a legacy of our own range from different FPS games for my country we had Point Blank world champion belt, Cross Fire WCG and Cross Fire Stars finalist (we never win sadly), we reached pro leagues finals in Rainbow 6 siege competing against best of the best from EU, NA, S. America, we never achived big in CSGO but our players are well known in SEA scene, we do have history in CS 1.6 such as XcN vs MiBR.

I believe our neighbouring countries had the same experiences as us so yeah we do have 20+ years of tact FPS experience.

it takes time, but as for now just keep improving and gain as much experience as you can especially now with how easy to access VOD back then is just like fighting in rough barren wasteland with how little access of internet

Bro Indonesia and Thailand single handedly own almost entire Point Blank scene, our only competitor is Russia at that moment. We already have mechanical skill for decades in fps game, we grew up with fps game. So if you asking that, than yes we (SEA) have decades worth of FPS legacy

I have to agree with this one though. It doesn't take a legacy to improve. It takes effort and willingness to go out there and learn. Zeta and the rest of Japan have had over two years to try to improve their region's gameplay, and there is simply no improvement. They continue to show lackluster tactics and adaptation, and as a byproduct displaying what is probably going to be the most boring series of LOCK//IN. There are s many regions that have managed to improve so much despite more humble beginnings. LATAM placed dead last along with Japan in the first ever Masters event and while have showed inconsistent results rank wise, they seem to be showing so much more tactical depth even in their losses. Meanwhile Japan continues to play their reactive style of every round with no signs of adaptation. The only way they are getting rounds is either due to small mistakes from their opposing teams, or the mechanical talent that they clearly have, as opposed to creating opportunities on their own. (example of this today against LEV, t side pearl)

Zeta, Detonation, and all of Japan, need to step it up strategically, or else Masters Tokyo is going to have a really silent crowd.

He won't end negative in every match, he will have deffo stats or so. He has a playstyle similar to deffo but he plays against significantly worse opponents so he gets 2-3 kills as a sacrificial entry in situations where deffo would get 1 or even die without a kill.

There are way too many paycheck stealers in jp teams who clearly don't put enough time in improving, jp needs 35-40 yo eu/na cs veterans at coach role, preferably former tier 1 igls, jp players are mechanically a bit worse than other regions but mechanics is the easiest aspect to improve, the problem is that there are almost no set plays which again indicates the lack of coaches/igls. Tbh you guys should learn from Chinese dota 2 scene and hire someone like xiao8 who is super authoritarian but his methods definitely work.

You are completely correct, and they do need to establish a trend of esports discipline and structure, as well as certain work ethics that come with it... but there has been a challenge in importing such new viewes/visions... and, as strange as it may sound, the issue here is more of acceptance than anything else. Efforts to bring in new systems and coaching staff from outside the region have previously failed (except the import of players) which are the reasons to the overall stagnation in the region - Imho. The subject is not something to be discussed openly, however you may check through Insomnia's transfer history to get an idea, if you haven't heard about certain cases already <3

I get it as a Indian fan we aren't that cracked but have better understanding of the game but nerves are the weakness of us and we get aim diffed every tournament outside SEA and now we are getting imports to develop the scene hope it develops and it doesn't turn out as hard carry situation as japan

Scene is not dead. Its just growing extremely slow.
I was thinking about it. And the reason of slow growing scene in East Asia is lack of tournaments. FR you have nothing to play outside of VCLs unlike in other regions.
East Asia need more weekly/monthly 3rd party tournaments and it will fix a lot.Compare SEA offseason and EA offseason. Im jealous
Whats point of having so much orgs and only 1 tournament per region? Whats point of playing in officials only vs teams from your own region? How much its really helps to grow? Already all of EA regions were named "1 team regions" cuz EDG/DRX/ZETA dominated them and now without such opponents in officials standarts are even lower.

All what East Asia is need to improve as a region is more tournaments for tier2-3 and all of JP/KR/CN teams should have ability to participate it.

viewership is guaranteed (cuz of CN + JP teams)
place to scout for a new talents (a lot of teams from KR and JP is just changing same players between each other for 2 years already, freshblood SDC and RIO in KR are showing fucking good results Fennel in JP have 3 young stars and they are playing on pro scene less than 1 year, new talents exist, just they need some place to have a chance to show themselves)
The more dissapointment results orgs will see the more they would like to change something in a team (add coach, add analyst, change a player or even roster), so their main t2 league orgs will enter with prepared or at least tested roster in which they really have confidence.
Top 4 teams of tier 2 leagues from all of this regions could be interested in participate such tournaments as well just to test some shit and to not forget what officials games are (cuz the more better results you have the less official games you play which is kinda not helping with at least saving your shape im not even talking about growing and becoming better)

The problem with franchising is that JP with dfm and zeta have no reason to improve. They'll be there forever. CR need to build a superteam that can win ascension. If they do so, they will actually put pressure on dfm and zeta improving

My friend, simply use the ONUR/SACY&SAADHAK Strategy.
1 - Find young players with high dedication and good aim that are NOT arrogant.
2 - Import some high level Coach and Assistant
3 - Focus on scrims and Bootcamps
4 - Make sure the team understands Útil and Trading are the most important part of the game
5 - Give the players a heavy training regimen, atleast 8 hours per day 6 days a week, VOD Reviews, Map Study, Ability Study, Meta Analyzing etc.

Finding Mechanically Gifted Players is easier than finding Complete players, shape them up, easier to make them smarter than better reflexes

they cannot improve if they keep playing against themselves, they need to play more tournaments outside their region. i mean they are playing against each other for 3 fucking years and still there's no improvement

this is what happened in league too, if you divide tournaments by region and keep only 1/2 international tournaments, you get previously good regions improving really fast because they were already ahead of competition, and subpar regions staying subpar for years
