It was VS vs Acend for me.
When one of the powerful EU teams at that time defeated by an Asian team so weakly

I don't think so, VS was known as ''Asian God'' and nobody rated Acend very high at that time
nobody rated Acend very high at that time
Some believed they will win the tournament:

I don't think that was too unexpected, because we had no idea how Acend would perform on LAN.
EMEA casters all picked Acend and SMB as #1 and #2 so kinda unexpected for Western viewers but whoever followed Asian scene knew VS were gonna get out of groups but as 2nd maybe
why shock ?? They dominated NA scene at that time and NA was top region
Zeta run was unexpected
TL losing to Acend was unexpected ( TL looked like a good contender for champions finals)
Gambit losing to Acend in champions finals
Honestly 100t v Gambit or acend was also a little unexpected i Mean i know Gambit and acend has no lan experience and 100t was filled with lan experienced members but then still i didn't expect 100t to beat 2 EMEA teams
yeah watching split in champions finals I was in disbelief the whole time. I really thought gambit would wake up and find an easy counter to acend's old af comp
old but gold, tbh acend destroyed with that old comp just like prx's reyna they were just confident
VS/DRX has always been sick in groups. not surprising at this point, but surprising then
Kru vs sen and kru vs fnatic. I know fnatic was literally only good in 2 maps at champions but it was wild when kru beat them despite getting through the group of death looking strong.
acend vs TL
but tbh kinda expected result with map veto
tl fucking threw that
VKS vs Gambit, surprising how they did so good against them and surprising how they threw that Icebox
