Thinking about starting GOT

Never watched Game of Thrones, all my friends have seen it while I was busy with League and college so is it worth the 8 seasons of binge worth?

read the books first, the show becomes major ass (except for a few parts) after it strays away from the books.

not really, you should read it so you can get the plot down and get all the details because the show dumbs things down a little and book 4 and 5 are completely different to the show

Exactly. If you don't read the books then you'll actually be able to enjoy watching the show without constantly being bothered by what's wrong or different. Then when the show gets unwatchable, switch to the books. By starting with the show you would be able to enjoy both the show and the books to the fullest.

first 5 seasons (till the show is somewhat consistent with the books ) are the best seasons ever made for any tv show.
Season 6, although having a lot of loopholes, is watchable.
Season 7 and 8 dont exist for me.
Also , the books ( A song of ice and fire ) are the greatest of modern times.

That’s kinda overselling it. They’re good but fantasy like Stormlight Archive and Malazan also exists.

I suggest go into it with an open mind, the first 5 seaons are incredible.
then read the books if you're into the lore and setting of game of thrones.
even though it ended quite badly (all opinions) it still is one of my favorite shows.

if you want a awesome show all the way through, i suggest vikings

Don’t do it, you will first love it only to end in disappointment. Don’t read the books, the author will never finish the series

I really enjoyed it...was my first TV series ig...I watched Friends and GOT simultaneously and I gotta say GOT is really good....tbh I even think s6 and s7 are really good...s8 has its moments but yea it was pretty disappointing as I was waiting for a payoff after such great storytelling but u should definitely try it
