How were they initially able to join a tier1 team when their fragging ability wasn't as great as the rest. Also this makes u wonder if their are some insane igl who cant make t1 now due to less fragging capability.

they only look bad in 2026 cuz it's a fluke year with the stupid meta. every patch keeps making it so that you don't need smart igls anymore
it's why igls that were dum/mid before (kinggg cheathan jampii) are now the igls of the top teams of the year
I agree with fentmain for once holy although fns didn't look good last year but that was tejo meta
the 3 igls you named have found some sort of success prior to the 11.08 patch lol
ethan won his only trophy as an igl in the meta everyone seems to love, jamppi was igling a dark horse team that were always a game away from making internationals in that meta, kingg held his own during 2024
i disagree with him on ethan, ethan is great, however I will note that the TenZ patch has really ruined non-fragging igls; the increased timer for initiator util, which makes it harder to work the map and leave it until the last second (in the past, couldn't even get 2 reveals per round; at 50 seconds, u technically still can't really do that if u don't hit site), which is what boaster LOVES to do.
Senti nerfs hurt as well; overall, it's just a massive nerf to slow play and a massive buff for double duelist floods, harming good igls in favor of set plays and hard aim duels; I think there should be some balance inbetween, where set plays and aim is still valuabe, but it also must allow igls to work the map and work map control
or it was just boaster's first year playing with a roster that fnc didn't dump all their money on, so he couldnt rely on 4 teammates to piggyback him, just 3
fnc looked great in kickoff, boaster then goes on to shit the bed as fnc lose two games in a row into disqual. fnc looked great in stage 1, then boaster goes on to shit the bed in playoffs. milan gets blamed, head coach replaced midseason, ggwp.
like im even looking at these games right now and they're even worse than i remember for him
Well Im saying it for years, Boaster is smart, it should've been at least his 2nd year of coaching Fnatic, but we have fraud ENGH instead of him and yeah
they werent that bad when they went pro in valorant and had some background in other games pretty sure
wasnt FNS on a team with friends without org? and then he got picked up. so he proved himself first. it was open quals back then so anyone could play. i am not 100% sure but i remember fns talking about that
edit: looked it up real quick it was together we are terrific those were his first games on valorant https://www.vlr.gg/547/together-we-are-terrific-vs-smoke-clg-blitz-cup-1-tournament-ro16
Open qualifiers back then
Boaster got some players together and performed good with them (fish123) then they got signed to fnatic
Fns has a cs background
the problem is that this year, slowplay has gone down - instead, we have double duelist and no sentinels cuz they're trash, so the slowplay is much harder since u just get overwhelmed, so Boaster's style of working the map and going down to the last seconds don't work as well anymore (they used to be great but now they're just bad since it's all floods)
instead, igls are expected to frag just as well as everyone else, whereas in previous years igls could drop less kills and their brain would win.
Honestly, I miss when the games were more about strategy than just shooting. I know it is a shooting game but it's a team-based game so strategy is important. The new meta is just hold w and hope for the best.
