The best storyline in all of valorant esports

Sentinels winning madrid is one of the best storylines in all of valorant IN MY OPINION. Sentinels in 2023 sucked they were one of the worst teams in NA but they made a huge change for 2024. Tenz is playing omen and they get johnqt to igl and the team just looks really good for the first time since 2021. We see this new team debut in the afreecatv off season tournament where they beat some big names and win convincingly against prx, one of the best teams in 2023 and in doing so they produce some insane clips during that entire tournament and people think sen are back but there's some doubt because it was an off season tournament after all. America kickoff sen look a bit shakey and that doubt does set in more but they still make it to the play ins where they have to play g2 where they only needed to win one map in the best of three to qualify to the playoffs and they get that one map so now they're in the playoffs where they have to beat nrg. Now with the power of hindsight we know that THAT nrg team wasn't anything but at the time they were very good and probably the scariest team in all of NA and what we got was one of the best clips from tenz that helped them beat nrg. They now qualified to madrid. At madrid they look unstoppable. They don't lose until they meet geng at the upper final in the playoffs but they lose BADLY and they go to the lower final where they comfortably beat prx 3-1 to rematch geng in the grand final. Some people think that because of how badly they lost before that geng would easily beat them again in the grand final and it starts off looking bad with geng pretty comfortably taking the first map but then sen take the next and it goes back in fourth until sen bring us to a fifth map where we get a zellsis masterclass for sen to win it all.

There are tons of good storylines but this one is just my favorite

Astralis used to be known as generational chokers, and then they became the most dominant team of all time, I can tell you the story some other time, for now let's watch the game.

The equivalent in valo would be eg 23, but other na teams achieved what eg did before and after, so it wasn’t exactly as impressive

Oh I love eg23 storyline lmao, pretty goated

Same, it sound like some shit out of a movie
Wdym the worst na team that everyone clowned got into playoffs via pure luck, got 2nd despite not being to prac w demon1, then won champs with their new pickup as best player itw

as a guy who is mostly into cs, when I heard about demon1 in 2023 I saw people talking about him like fucking MJ or some shit. And then I saw champs and I just went ''what the fuck do you mean he was a pugger, joined the shittiest team in the league and they almost immediately won champs''. Literally the only esports pro who had a bigger aura buff than this at their first event was donk in katowice 2024

also the cadian-led heroic storyline (failed transfer to FPX in 2020 because astralis took es3tag, then went back to heroic). online era merchants, hunden radar bug ban, then kicked danish niko and borup for sjuush and refrezh, stavn and teses popping off, that gambit 1v5 at pro league, top 4 at stockholm, top 8 at antwerp, -refrezh +jabbi in 2022, final of rio major, win at blast copenhagen against prime faze, final of kato 2023, semis of paris 2023 where they choked to gamerlegion's cinderella run. Like, sure, they won like 2 events in that run, but most of these guys were nonames and cadian was the ''oh he lost to juliano in a 1v1'' meme. Hated them cuz they were annoying, but looking back, they were so fun to watch and follow

Cadian 1v4 and heroic always is so iconic man
I also like to say faze one is very goated run too

I loved faze in 2020-2021 and their slow rise from that toxic mess which was ''niko igl faze'' (I love niko but holy shit that team was a cluster fuck) to a chill team in 2021. Olof back from his 5th bench stint, karrigan back from mouz, twistzz coming from liquid, broky (btw watching prime broky was sexy af, top 5 clutch player of all time imo), rain ofc. And then they got ropz in 2022. I still remember the jks stand-in saga when he first subbed for ropz in groups, then for rain in playoffs, and he was wearing twistzz' jersey with the canadian flag because faze didn't have a jersey for him

Maybe this is recency bias but I think niko getting his major is one of the best storylines in all of cs. That and c9 major run or mouz winning in cs summit 5

#25

it's not a recency bias, any cs fan old or new will say that he needed one major

huge +1 on niko and c9, mouz winning cs summit 5 was fun, but it wasn't impactful. Their win at pro league was insane in 2019, I highly reccomend watching PHY's video about their game vs astralis!
NiKo's storyline felt so good because it had such a long build up, and also their run is the hardest road a team had in playoffs (maybe c9 boston 2018 come on par, g2, sk, faze). Beat Vitality who denied falcons several finals, beat spirit who spoiled karrigan's debut, beat furia where fallen had his penultimate major run.

I think vita run was also very inspirational tho
Apex and Zywoo 7+ years together and then ropz joining and making this team into a powerhouse

True, but people don't want to acknowledge it because vitality are the evil empire who won 2 grand slams and 2 majors and lost a 3rd only to the eventual winners. CS has so many cool stories and narratives rn
9z and their rise
mongolz and the entire history of mongolian CS
early kaboom/luminosity/sk day, like dafuq you mean flusha/JW donated to Fallen and the brazilian guys to help them travel to katowice 2015 closed qualifier.
aleksi's entire career is just pure fucking movie material, I love him, I am biased, but he had such a run full of heartbreak and failures before his major

You have to understand once Vit fall off EVERYONE will be nostalgiamaxxing and glazing their run, their just hating now

at first i hated their ass but somewhere around Krakow 2026 I just respect their level and consistency now. Like, we probably won't see a team this dominant in the next 5 years, with LATAM rising and so many tier 1.5 teams now who can take a series off you. It's just ridiculous to look back on the first season of 2025, straight up bullshit.
40 series, 38 won, the 2 losses being to eternal fire at blast bounty s1 2025 in january and a bo1 loss to legacy at the major.
37 bo3 won streak
7/8 in trophies from january to june
76-18 in maps
60% round win rate
like fucking fairs I guess, 7-0 against mouz, 5-0 against mongolz, 4-0 against falcons, 3-0 against spirit

I think person wise ropz's storyline is amazing, like losing his dad to suicide, it's very sad, used to be called a cheater in cs, went to faceit office and beat all the allegations, and one of the greatest rilers oat

I would love this year to end with furia winning the major but it sucks that they kind of suck now. Their loss at budapest ruined them it feels like because ever since then they don't look the same and dare I say they are kind of overrated right now only so high up in ranking because they made it to the grand final in cologne but even in cologne their run was very easy compared to others

#31

best I see furia do is win the enc

I guess molodoy just fell off imo. Not blaming him or saying he is a fraud, but something definitely changed in him. In late 2025 he was putting belt to ass on m0nesy and zywoo, easily the most aggresive and impactful awper of late 2025. He was making dumb and arrogant plays, but he would produce magic. Now he is just way too scared. I think furia will improve towards the end of the year when they understand that fallen is actually retiring and they will just fix their mess. For me the playoffs of singapore Ideally would be:
-falcons
-vitality
-furia
-Liquid/100T
-FaZe
-9z/Legacy
-FUT
-MongolZ
no spirit cuz I have seen enough of hallyban, and zont1x and tn1r, they need a group exit to make fucking changes
same for navi, and I say it as a navi fan, iM has to fucking go.
