I'm about to type a lot. So I'll put it in a spoiler so it isn't so big.

G2 Esports. The Esports team I've supported since 2024.

The first VALORANT match I had ever watched was the 2023 Americas Ascension Grand Final between The Guard and M80. Which is ultimately where I found my liking for G2 Esports, because they bought the roster after.

Even though I hadn't actually watched much VALORANT Esports in 2024, I followed G2 pretty well and watched Champs quite a bit. Since that moment I've supported G2, through every regional win, through every international loss.

As I've expanded my Esports watching to CS2 and League of Legends, as you can imagine, I've also become fans of those G2 teams.

One thing is, it's really easy to be a fan of G2. Top 8 Cologne Major in CS, make every international in VAL, and seem pretty good to me in League.

But there is a problem. G2 isn't a United States organization, let alone an American organization at all. I was born and raised, and never left, the United States of America. Similar to real sports, I kind of want to follow a team close to home. G2 isn't. They are from Germany.

Now there are plenty of options for me, Sentinels, 100 Thieves, Cloud9, NRG, just to name a few. But their can be issues with each. Some of them don't play in CS2 or LoL or both.

One match I remember watching pretty vaguely in 2024 was 100 Thieves vs KRU Esports in the Americas Stage 2 Lower Bracket Semifinal. Where 100 Thieves had lost. And I knew they were good, they won Stage 1, placed well at Shanghai, etc. I felt pretty bad.

And I watched almost this entire EWC tournament. Watching 100 Thieves win felt amazing, and I have never looked at them as a team I'd support. Back in 2024 I was technically still trying to figure out who I liked, G2, 100T, SEN, I was kinda bouncing between just moments I barely remember. But this one doesn't seem like a distant memory. This victory for 100 Thieves felt real, like it touched my heart. NRG's didn't, and I watched that Grand Final start to finish.

But I've also felt heartbreak, Bangkok, G2 v T1 Grand Final. Many recall as one of the best Grand Finals of all time, but for me it is something I wish to forget. We were that close. But I want to close this message out with this, I am not a bandwagon, but I think I want to move on from G2 Esports, at least in VALORANT, and support someone else, and ultimately I think that team might just be 100 Thieves.

Thank you for your time.

if you can't support a team at their lowest
you don't deserve them at their highest

you arent a g2 fan, you are a fan of the latest winning team
if they ever win a trophy you don't deserve to celebrate with them
