for f1 honestly drive to survive is a really good way to get people super interested in the drivers, teams and stories (as manufactured they are). Getting into football is harder as the whole enjoyment for most people is the love you have for your club, normally local, you can't really force it. The games themselves arent exactly high octane so if you dont already find the game interesting its hard to get into. I say this as someone who has had a season ticket for my local club for my whole life

I can only really talk for football but

i personally got back into it slowly by just watching highlights of teams that interest me, and then that evolved into a general interest for the game, which lead to wanting to learn more about it (because I am a moron when it comes to the history and tactics of football) I can't speak much for the tactics side, but I really enjoy watching the storytelling/history side of football YouTube with creators like HITC Sevens, Football Iconic, occasionally vizeh, and then maqwell for slightly more comedic videos

and that increased my interest to the point that I want to watch full games

but if you just care about your team specifically, just learn the players, some of the history, and what they're fighting for right now.

or just watch the games if none of that sounds interesting lol

only certain thing is don't touch football twitter with a 10 foot pole

become a liverpool fan instead

also start playing things, even if its just joining a casual club for something.

For football, join a local football club. For F1 go go-karting.

playing something, no matter what skill level you are, will make you appreciate how good the top-level is, therefore making it more entertaining because you can appreciate the skill and co-ordination of pros

For f1 you should just start watching highlights on youtube first, if you straight up start watching full races you will be bored. For football just watch the team which plays good football currently they will grow on you eventually.

i tried watching highlights sometime ago and got the knowledge that lando norris won the recent trophy or smth

how has a team won a trophy before i even started supporting them in f1 but my bum ass valorant team is still trophyless

how do you feel about slot

I'm curious because I haven't seen a single Liverpool fan say they want him to stay in the last few months

I think he should go at the end of the season, obviously be respectful as he won us the league but at the same time he aint built for a club like Liverpool.

I think a part of it is the reality vs expectation coming into this season, winning the league, spending Β£450M, even the Shankly/Paisley comparisons that him/Klopp had where one laid the foundation for the other to dominate. so obviously people are gonna be reactionary because of the expectations

But also I think that seeing how someone reacts under pressure shows the true nature of their character. Arne was really well liked last season, partially because it was plain sailing, the tactics were working and he was getting peak performances from Salah and Gravenberch (who Klopp couldnt even get the best out of). Even when we hit that terrible patch of form after the PSG loss, people chalked it up to complacency because they had nothing to play for.

Fast forward to this season, tactics aside, I think Arne has shown he aint really cut out to lead a club with as much pressure as Liverpool. You can see it during press conferences when they underperform, he will make excuses, lack accountability, lash out at media and supporters etc.

Maybe this sounds harsh but being a manager at a Liverpool, or a United, or Real Madrid, you cant really focus on just tactics. You also need to be able rally millions of fans. The key difference between Klopp and Slot is that when Liverpool hit rough patches before, no-one but a few people were Klopp out because he knew what to say to keep the fans happy. Whereas you are right about Slot in that he has lost the trust of the core part of LFC supporters, and I think that ultimately the owners will prioritise keeping the fans happy because its easy to scapegoat the manager rather than keep one guy but ultimately alienate your fanbase

all that yap just to say #VamosXabi

imo choosing a team is the first key step, cuz you won't get invested otherwise
even if it is just bandwagoning, if there is at least one thing that attracts you about some team then you should follow them
it will be easier to choose what highlights to watch, what games to watch, also helps to first get familiar with players on your team, then their competitors, then you'll understand why one is highly valued and the other is not in comparison
you follow some social media pages (if its football then 433 for example) to get more familiar as well, then if you're interested you'll start watching random youtube videos with lore of the sports or just who's relevant today
that's how it was with me for nba at least - i started watching it in 2021 and i obviously chose to support gsw. i was bandwagoning hard with curry being my favorite player initially, but after getting more familiar with the game in general i switched up to supporting another team and having another player as my favourite (i still got some warm feelings towards gsw tho). some people stick through all the way, but not doing that is fine too imo, cuz at the end of the day your preferences are your preferences

for f1 honestly drive to survive is a really good way to get people super interested in the drivers, teams and stories (as manufactured they are). Getting into football is harder as the whole enjoyment for most people is the love you have for your club, normally local, you can't really force it. The games themselves arent exactly high octane so if you dont already find the game interesting its hard to get into. I say this as someone who has had a season ticket for my local club for my whole life

While DTS does help by telling the stories of teams/drivers the problem with it is that it is so different than the actual sport, people just end up getting into DTS and not the actual sport. I've seen this happen to multiple of my friends.
