Yes it is sportswashing slop, nobody denies that. But most, if not all orgs want the money. Orgs want their players to win. Players want to win as well (I’ve seen no proof saying otherwise). “My team does bad in EWC because Toronto more important” is cope.

I give up arguing about this I guess people want there to be no 3rd party tournaments and wait 6 months after the end of every season

it's a 'major' tournament, but it's still less prestigious than any masters and even regionals, cause those at least contribute to circuit points, whereas EWC is just random tourney in the middle of a season with shitty format and even shittier qualifiers, like no one give a shit when T1 won EWC in league lmao
The format and structure of the tournament does allow for more variance though, so a team doing bad in EWC because EWC sucks is still a little valid.
