Lock-In

How did EMEA fans manage to convince people Lock-In wasn't a joke of a tournament? It was a pre-season, single-elimination, no-group stage, randomly seeded show match with a prizepool slightly larger than a Knights weekly tournament. And they want to pretend this "trophy" should be valued the same as Champs? It's embarrassing

tbh GF prize kinda shows it all

250k for madrid vs 150k iirc for lock in

even masters 2 iceland was bigger than lock in lol

EG made 10 times as much from winning champs as FNC did from winning Fraud-In

lock in was trash, madrid was good, kickoff was trash. Do we all agree?

We didn't, everyone calls it a Mickey Mouse tournament, when it's actually not. The best team in the world won at Lock In, that's factual, and the proof of it is that they went on to win again the tournament after. Argue all you want

correct me if I'm wrong, did FNC ever beat prx full roster? or only when they had a sub?
then while scrims don't mean shit, fnc also got smoked by NA teams that didn't even qualify to Champs. they were losing to SEN when SEN was trialing a mystery igl. But obviously, fnc could have been testing new strats? unsure because 2024 fnc seem like they don't use new strats.

2023 fnc deserve their wins and there's nothing teams can do about visas or substitutes.
But Kick-Off and Lock-In sucked ass and everyone agrees on kick off but not Lock-In lol. Lock-In wasn't supposed to mean much and there is a reason Kick-Off had no trophy.

Sure, that is because they weren't the best team at Champs. But they were the best team in the world at Lock in and at Tokyo and it's factual. So I don't care people say "single elim", they were better and they proved it

Proof it was a farmer region. Letting KRU (0-9) all season win LCQ. says it all

this copium hits hard, thats literally the tournament where the worse teams play lmaoo. And also why the champions winners since 2022 are from americas ?

How come it took 3 years to finally catch up with the "weaker region" in trophy count?

Americas passed EU as soon as they won their second champs. Now Americas passed EU's trophy count as well (obviously Fluke-In isn't being counted)

Sadly it’s a Mickey Mouse tournament.. unlucky for Fnatic tho. It’s great they won Tokyo

Mickey Mouse tournament because it was single elim, yet the best team in the world won, so maybe single elim wasn't so bad

How come everyone Predicted top 4 at lock-in before the event actually becoming the final top 4

Best team at that time won it.. no doubt.. doesn’t change it’s a Mickey Mouse tournament. But hey man I’m happy for Fnatic and all the EMEA supporters for winning the mouse tournament 🤗

You just contradicted yourself tho. According to you it is a Mickey Mouse tournament because being single elim means upsets are likely and the best team doesn't always win. Yet you think the best team in the world won, therefore it wasn't a single elim didn't affect

#32

Fnatic were undoubtedly the best team in the world at that time given the Mickey Mouse format

Lockin had too many teams for the money to be a motivating factor to win though

look at the tournament?? Its like nip trying to flex winning a cs major in 2013,that tournament means the least out of any in the grand scheme, regions had 0 experience against each other, the game was 1 year old and zombs won a trophy, sen had more experience than 95% of the players there cause of their cs background they just dominated cause they had better fundamentals than anyone else at the time

when did i say that?? I said they were BY FAR the most experienced and high level cs pros in that tourney when nobody knew how to play

#45

you are saying its a mickey mouse because its very old NOW, back then no one called it a mickey mouse, whereas something like lock//in, before it even started, people were calling it mickey mouse and a fraudulent tournament due to how horrible the idea and format was.

lock//in is the literal definition of mickey mouse.

if u wanna argue about trophies and success but rather include a tourney where regions play each other for the first time in a barely 1 year old game but not a 2023 skill level tourney cause its singe elim u are the definition of biased

The format structure was very poor but I think the Valorant was great. The Grand Finals were amazing and still one of the best to this day (in my opinion).

Biggest EMEA and Fnatic scandal of the century. If we count that why not count the regional masters SEN won? Counting that SEN and TenZ have 3 masters, not 2.

A win is a win, cant diminish other's victories because of the format. Everyone had the same format. Do we like it? No, but it is what it is

It was the first tournament for franchise teams, literally teams were getting to know each other, rosters were getting tested (one of the reasons why yay got dropped). Literally a test beta tournament.

You can yap as much as you want but Lock-in will actually be remembered more than most Masters events

A lot was different but it was still a T1 international tournament organized by Riot

It also gave us the best and most memorable series in VCT history

Yes there were a lot of mid teams at the tournament but the amount of actual banger teams was still the same (The best Asian teams remained unchanged in PRX and DRX, The best Americas teams still had their core 3 in Optic, Loud and Lev and EMEA had the FPX and Fnatic core so it was even footing).

Just because a tournament is less forgiving to teams doesnt mean its a lesser tournament. They never stumbled so they were deserving winners.
