can someone explain how the supaman pickup makes any sense? he last played in challengers ascension with faze and never had any substantial performances or crazy impact that would make him seem like a T1 player.

because supamen is cheap

anyone’s gonna take a low salary to be one of thirty players in franchise, still doesn’t make sense, especially after every orgs making paycuts considering the economy of valorant right now

you also have to consider that eg is known to be an instable org and even if players will do everything to get into franchising, they might not want to go with eg because that could definitely screw them over in the future

Good. Let EG make bad decisions. (Nothing against supamen). Bad decisions = No EG next VCT = Flyquest = FNS super team.

I'm afraid that's not how it works. EG can't be kicked until the summer of 2026

what would happen if they dissolve before then tho?

I suppose in that case Riot probably does have the right to replace them with someone else, but I don't think the information of how that would work is public. But I doubt the whole org dissolves, they'll cut expenses but I don't think completely disappear. Riot will probably have clauses to avoid it we just don't know which or how

can’t riot and eg mutually terminate contracts? i wouldn’t be surprised if theyre looking for a replacement rn

They can, but why would EG wanna do that

EG most likely has certain contractual obligations they have to fulfil as a result of receiving the stipend. Those obligations likely cost EG money and are hurting their bottom line, which could lead them to being insolvent. EG doesn't want to have to do that, so they would seek to exit the partnership league.

There is a minimum salary of something around 40/50k a year for players if I am not mistaken, a coach and someone to post stuff on social media. That's the minimum, other than that I believe teams get more money depending on other factors, but regardless, the minimum is easy to cover

I'm speaking out of my ass here since I don't know the contracts, but I doubt that Riot has their contract set up in a way that if an org accepts the stipend, and then spends the bare minimum on salaries, and nothing else, they would be fine.

The likely have obligations that relate to promoting the sport. These could be things like driving social media engagement, creating merchandise, etc... stuff that will get people invested in the team, and as a result more invested in the VCT. Which is part of the reason Riot looked for orgs with large fan bases instead of new teams, even if those teams invested more in the early scene of Valorant.

But how does a clause determine if a team is "trying to win" or not? There are minimum salaries, you can't kick someone out for paying them, it wouldn't be the minimum if it wasn't enough. Plus EG isn't the only org paying minimums

im pretty confident the contracts can be mutually terminated. EG very clearly want out of esports, if they mess up enough that Riot also wants them out and is able to find a fit replacement, there's probably nothing stopping them from both agreeing to terminate the contract and franchise the replacement org they found

Why in the world would EG want out of a league that guarantees them about a million dollars when they can make roster that cost less than that. But yeah I mean if they wanna disband Riot can't force them

I guess that's fair, but honestly any question starting with "why would EG" could just be answered with "because it's EG"

I don't know how any of that works tbh. I just want FNS to build a team either in tier1/tier2 to see if he is the GOAT igl or not.

Because they just don't care anymore lol. They got a roster and will compete because they signed a contract. I'm pretty sure they are planning to leave eSports altogether by 2025

Everyone made fun of EG back when they had ‘bad players’, but look what happened, they cooked and won champs with the GOAT potter. Looks like you guys are falling back into the trap of taking a team by face value.

Salaries may be less than other teams but they are still provably 8k which is very good.
