and I love boring dialogue movies like Lost in Translation or 12 angry men

when I watch a movie about nuclear bombs, I want to feel terrified and absolutely small at the scale of destruction nukes could cause. oppenheimer did none of that, even tho oppenheimer the dude was saying it's a completely different world after he invented nukes, the movie showed none of that. I was so bored, it was all super straightforward boring politics, and they didn't even show the nukes landing on japan. I liked the scene where opp was giving his speech and he was pretending to be proud but he was guilty, but it doesnt replace a scene bombing Hiroshima or Nagasaki at all, they completely glossed over that shit like what??? Chernobyl the series is way better, and the prospect of nuclear war is way scarier in that show.

and ya the nukes burning the atmosphere is terrifying, but its 100% theoretical and didn't happen. nukes are terrifying enough, show THAT goddamn

u didnt read my shit at all, I love good plot. I was just disappointed it wasn't about NUKES and how terrifying nuclear war is, it's actually literally about oppenheimers life which vs the implication of NUKES is super boring. its just a biopic and I was expecting way more. it's also 3 hours long

you pretty much said not an explosion = boring (other than the speech scene), what does that mean other than that you just want action?

because it's basically a summary. my first sentence of this post, is that I find movies w/out explosions very interesting which is why I pointed out that you didn't read my post.Tthis one just doesn't ask the right questions imo or push forward the right emotions. For me, nukes = existential terror, which this movie did not produce at all. It's very political, but it didn't even make me ask the question if it was good to be a communist at the time or no?

I don't like movies that are summaries bc I can read those on wikipedia. I like movies that are visually stunning and that make me ask questions or challenge my beliefs, and this movie did none of that even if the acting is good or the cinematography is good. VERY MID and 3 hours is way too long for this midness

They didn’t show Japan bc it was a bio pic on Oppenheimer

The fact he made the bomb and then found out the same way as every other average American citizen when it hit Japan goes miles to show how used/guilty he felt

Also you have yet to have a singular good take on this website please seek professional help

u are just salty that I'm calling out kobe and ronaldo for being literal rapists, and u cant acknowledge or reconcile that fact. and I'm calling out the community for their inconsistency bc they hate sinatraa for the same reason. respond w ur opinion on this matter if u have actual takes instead of just saying who asked bruh

and I like your take that he discovered it the same as any other American citizen, I think that makes sense.

well no response to the kobe/ronaldo thing, I guess you're just gonna tuck that away in the corner of your mind, which is fair bc everyone else does that

I made another thread about how kobe/ronaldo are r*pists but everyone seems to love them and ignore that fact, even tho ppl on vlr hate sinatraa + other people for the same shit. So there seems to be a point of fame where people can ignore that. I don't even know how I feel about it because I really respect Kobe, it was more of an open question. I just really disrespect when people ask "who cares" in an open forum because it's an open forum.

Well the movie was about Oppenheimer, so I guess it's only as interesting as he was + whatever they added.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Oppenheimer.

did you really think this movie was interesting??? it's about him being trialed for maybe being a communist? thats so straightforward and uninteresting?? it doesn't even ask questions about if being a communist is right or not, it's just literally a trial about him being maybe a communist?? its just a biopic and I was so disappointed

a biopic about someone as impt as Oppenheimer should have been better imo. This movie has the same depth given to the biopic of the guy who started mcdonalds.

the point of the film is hardly to glorify nuclear warfare

  • it's literally based on the book man be fr

not trying to glorify nuclear war, im saying nuclear war is so unfathomable and terrifying and the movie didnt convey that enough. I guess the book is boring too

"I love boring dialogue movies"

"I was so bored, it was all super straightforward boring politics, and they didn't even show the nukes landing on japan."

Can you be more contradictory? The title of the movie is a tell-tale sign that it is a biopic, and it was based on the book American Prometheus.

i actually think the politics part are the best part of this film. there's a reason why this is a film about Oppenheimer not a nuclear bomb

If you want to see a nuclear bomb exploding, the actual footage of the event is much more frightening than any movie can portray
