Treatment of Russians if SZ wins

Ascension allows up to two out-of-region players compete, while the league allows only one.
Seems like a contradiction in the rules, but what happens if SZ wins?
Even the Japanese community has voiced their doubts.
Some say that Russia in the Far East should be treated as Asia, since it is geographically closer Asia than EMEA.
Now that SZ is the closest team to winning, has anyone heard what the rule maker, Riot, has to say on this issue?

closest team to winning

they've played 2 games dude

riot would probably just let the full roster ascend though

jemkin goes to emea and we get 2 bottom feeder jpn t1 teams

no, Russia under Riot rules counts as an EMEA region, so two of the russian players counts as imports, I think Riot would do an exception for stuff like this though even if they won ascension the roster would still be allowed to play in franchising

Their nationality is Russian. There is no doubt about that.
Basically, Japan is a country that does not recognize dual nationality.

Do you think it's so easy to get the passport of neighbour country?))

Riot typically has what is known as 'residency rules' — basically play in a region long enough and you'll count as a home region player rather than an import. The proponent of this is the LCS and the VCT rulebook does mention this, but not how a player would count as a resident (Valorant context). Jemkin and Kr1stal have been in Japan for more than 2 Challengers Splits, right? I need to dig a bit more either way to confirm

Russia doesnt have their own league so maybe that could be also a factor.

Thats a terrible path. A big contribution to the death of the LCS was the insane level of imports in the region. It killed all regional identity.

Valorant should not let that happen as well. Only some specific exceptions like for eastern russians who would get double status or smth makes sense.

Or best case get russia their own league that feeds into emea ascension and all these problems are solved.

тут согласен, слишком много мороки для видеоигры, я думаю, менеджмент команды как-нибудь разберется с риотами и им разрешат выступать в азии без замен.
