EG don't deserve Demon1

don't forget that this big name brand poached the dude right out of another org's lineup after getting shitted on by him in scrims

Demon1 did "open tryouts" AFTER eg promised him an extremely favourable opportunity

Demon1 did the EG try outs and got accepted? Not really poached.

Also why would he go into a tier 2 scene when he had change at franchising. Make it make sense

So you’re saying Demon1 don’t deserved to be in franchised org? Dumbest post I’ve ever seen

not at all, I'm saying that Demon1 is more than qualified to be on any franchised org he goddamn wants as probably the best duelist in NA, but it was an L move from the EG as an org to poach him right out of another team's hands

I love the EG team, but don't mix up their success with their management's arguably immoral behaviour

Well if EG left him alone, Demon1 woulda been playing in T2. Do you think that’s better for Demon1? You think Demon1 woulda preferred that? In the end it’s the player’s decision and Demon1 CHOSE to sign with EG. This is better for his career and EG gave him the opportunity to prove himself.

what you got to understand is that I'm not mad at Demon1 at all for chasing the bag and doing what's best for his career LOL. I'm just unhappy with the way EG handled the situation, literally investigating him and finding out his contact details after he scrim under an alias during the scrim to protect his identity (which you would know if you actually watched the clips). I'm not arguing at all whether it was better for the guy, but it's still unarguable that EG was hugely immoral to poach a guy on the verge of getting signed and screwing over small market teams

It's immoral to offer a player a better opportunity and salary just because another team trialed him first? Why should DSG be entitled to a player they haven't signed yet? Either offer him more money to get him to pick you over EG, or stop complaining. I have nothing against Toast but him whining about EG 'stealing' one of his players (who was never signed in the first place) has always been lame to me.

If poaching saves a player from a trash team with several internal conflicts and frequent roster changes, and gives him the opportunity to perform at the very best I'm all in for more poaching 🤝 .

Yeah man EG put a gun on his forehead and forced him to sign. Else why would he not want to play for a struggling Challengers org that changes roster every 2 days, has no bootcamp and above all has Josh "Steel" Nissan 🥺

I don't think they would've needed to change roster if their duelist was demon1

It would be fine if he didn’t have a contract or EG took the time to genuinely scout him from obscurity, but he was SCRIMMING with a squad, about to sign a contract and EG plucked him away and basically was a factor that led to DSG’s collapse at the end of the season.

I love the fact that I get to watch Demon1 play on the big stage too, but the EG org was still fucked to poach up and coming talent like that. The ends don’t always justify the means.

You dont know what poaching is, he was going to sign the contract and he tried out before? How is it EG’s fault for him going to open tryouts? Blame demon1 if u want but nothing legally or morally wrong from EG.

Demon1 has already said that he was the one who reached out to EG. Also, DSGs collapse had nothing to do with Demon1 not joining

EG: We bumped into an incredibly talented young player while scrimming and encouraged him to try out for our partnered team because we saw potential in him. Since signing him he has thrived on our team, elevating us to a new level while he simultaneously develops a reputation as one of the most individually skilled players in all of valorant.

Nah dude, I totally disagree with the explanation he was "plucked" from a roster. If a contract wasn't signed he was still free to explore other options. In real life a contract isn't signed until the moment its signed, and people are free to change their mind. He was a talented player who got the offer of a lifetime from a big org.

how is it EG fault the the player wasn't contracted already to DSG

streamer tries to be an org, doesnt know how to org, gets out org'd by actual orgs, and is mad about that? cmon man

dont be that guy

I'm not the biggest fan of how they acquired him, I think they should have picked him up before he was with another team, but come on. the dude clearly fucking deserves to be in t1, and what other org was going to take a risk on an unknown, no name t2 player in their big franchised roster? they do deserve him, bc they took the chance on picking him up and playing him.

#45
eeveeceo

fair- but at that point it wasn't really a "chance"

he very clearly was going to get picked up by some franchised org after his contract with DSG ended in the T2 season, he has more than enough talent to do so. we just got to see him play a little bit earlier. Again, I'm not arguing that EG poaching him is a less preferable alternative to him not getting picked up by a T1 team at all, I'm just saying that it was not EG who "discovered" him, or "gave him a shot" and that the true scouting efforts should've gone to DSG and their team there and how it probably played a part in their awful season

#47

i mean, you never know that. the players on M80 have a ton of talent - Zander was one of the best players of the first part of last year, and no one even really gave him a chance. franchising in NA was stacked, and he really wouldn't have gotten a slot when people like Nismo and trent were left out in the cold. he's super talented, but he doesnt have any real achievements like others do. i dont think you can make a reasonable prediction as to when he would have gotten his shot. I agree that they didnt handle it very well with DSG, but you can't say that this isn't a far better outcome for him - even yay couldn't turn around DSG, so it seems like the problems with that team were far deeper than just a star player being stolen. And he's in the top 6 of this masters right now, looking like he's going to Masters, we can disagree on the way EG picked him up, but to act like they don't deserve him when he would never have gotten this chance in any other way seems disingenuous.

Yay was considered a lock to be on a franchised team in 2024, after his DSG stint there is a chance he may be in T2 again next year. You can't say with certainty that Demon1 would've been picked up by a franchised org if he ended up signing with DSG.

I'm just saying that it was not EG who "discovered" him, or "gave him a shot" and that the true scouting efforts should've gone to DSG and their team there and how it probably played a part in their awful season

DSG has nobody to blame but themselves for their awful season, L take honestly.
