i can guarantee you 90% of the idiots in the arena are gold and below
they don't know anything about sportsmanship or how hard it is to get to pro level.

This isn't a sport. This is Valorant an online 5v5 game. Career safety and money from games are way lower. Stakes are higher for the team to perform, thus the mental stress is higher, when you have the tournament held in a proper 1st world country where everyone is taught respect it helps the players with their mental.

Well if esport never make it to be like sports

then we are going bankrupt in 5 years

#16

Im not sure if you are mentally prepared for this answer however, esports will never make it to be like a sport. However there is not an indication that esports will go bankrupt in 5 years, video games are steadily gaining interest in mainstream media and thus sponsorships rates are higher. Do I think it will ever get to the economic and worldwide strength of sports? No. Will it go away in 5 years, No. My point still stands, hold tournaments in places with respectful people not a slum of a place like brazil.

Bro if you watched early basketball or football you will see it took the same direction as esport now

so yeah esport if it maintains the next 10-15 years somehow is going to be sports and maybe bigger than sports

#35

Highly disagree. While sports have a wide array of popular and fun-to-watch branches, esports most popular games tend to be Mobas and FPS games. Along with this, technology with processing power for games like Valorant is not worldwide yet. Many people also find watching esports unfun, To be honest, esports is a very niche internet-only thing. With the argument of baseball and football being like this, I'm unsure what you mean, baseball has been a fostering sport since the 1800s and was nearly worldwide by the 1920s, With soccer, even had an international tournament established in the early 19th century establishing it worldwide. Sure maybe in 75 or so years we could see esports get close, but I am not sure about 10-15 years, the accessibility and interest are too low.

Brother you said it, techonolgy!

thats why it took basketball, football to take this long to thrive the way it is today

where today we can cut 50 years of progress in 10 years probably

I can see that viewers , salaries in 2017, are miles a head in 2023

Missed my other point of 'interest'. It's a combination of both. Sure if everyone wanted to watch esports all we have to do is spread technology and advertisements. That's the problem though, watching esports is a niche, more niche than playing them. The reason sports are so popular is that from childhood most people are raised around them. I for one was put into soccer as a kid, and that's not going to change because video games don't give the health benefits that real sports do. I do think its possible for in 50-75 years to reach the view count and salary of sports player but for now we need some sort of revolutionary videogame or piece of technology to have it be possible for it to overtake sports in 10 years.

Brother you talking about your generation and your self

Now you have 30 y.o dads watching esport while their kids is watching with them

thats what this new generation will be, you said it "growing up watching esport"

thats exactly what will happen

#66

I could see it happening, I just personally don't think it's likely. It's already a very niche part of the internet.

Personally I don't think 30 year old dads should be watching esports, they are too old and have other responsibilities

There are some reasons for this. First, esports have a very loyal and engaged fan base, with millions of people watching live competitions online and in arenas all over the world. Additionally, companies are investing more and more money into esports, which is driving the growth of the industry as a whole.

Another reason for the potential of esports is that they have a global appeal. Unlike traditional sports, which are often more popular in some regions of the world than others, esports have a global fan base and can be played and watched anywhere with internet access.

However, there are some obstacles that esports need to overcome before they reach the same level of popularity as traditional sports. One of these obstacles is the perception that esports are not "real sports". Some people still view video games as a sedentary activity and do not recognize the skill and talent required to play at a professional level.

Additionally, esports face regulatory and infrastructure challenges. Many countries still do not have an established regulatory framework for esports, which can affect the ability of teams and players to compete internationally. There may also be challenges regarding infrastructure, such as the availability of venues for competitions and training.

In summary, esports have the potential to reach the same level of popularity as traditional sports, but there are still obstacles to overcome. With the continued growth of the industry and the increasing recognition of video games as a legitimate form of competition, it is possible that esports will continue to grow and become even more popular in the coming years

have you heard most esport orgs are in red, losing money? even the big ones

#83
idkbro
1
Frags

esports is already almost bankrupt, its impossible to make this thing profitable and the only reason it exists is investors hope that it can become something like regular sports. just look at 90% of big esports orgs and you will they are soulless oldschool orgs from the start of esports with a lot of investment but almost 0 fanbase, if investors start pumping in money then most orgs are fucked because they have very little actual fanbase and only orgs like KOI, KC, Loud will survive

Sorry, I should've reiterated this for you. I'm not sure if you're from America or speak English primarily, but we widely use the oxford definition in relation to words we use. For reference, I will now present you with the oxford definition of sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Hopefully this clears up my argument for you.

please youre being a child here. Stop being butthurt and accept that your team didnt have the mental nor the prep to win the game. Thats al, it is what it is. NA is a first world country and theyd be 10x more toxic than the brazil crowd, dont even try to make this about race cause let me tell you thats absolutely cope

#60

It's nothing to do with race. It's to do with basic sportsmanship, which from what I've seen from twitter, vlr, and this game today, brazil seems to lack.

I'll take developing nations approach to sports than "european and american" approach to sports. I'll take face to face banter over backstabs that EU and NA are familiar with through shady deals and other fuckery. Brazil bros, you dont need to justify your behavior to these lowlife idiots who are just malding that their shit talk got returned in the face. Just smile, boo, and move on with a smirk.
