ORG OVERVIEW
-Generational Gaming, frequently abbreviated to GenG, is a South Korean esports org that was founded in 2017 from the pre-existing KSV esports structure.
-They currently compete in NBA 2K, PUBG, Overwatch (under the Seoul Dynasty), LoL, Rocket League, and VALORANT. They also host a slew of content creators
-They also previously competed in Heroes of the Storm, Clash Royale, Fortnite, CoD BO4, Apex, and CSGO
-Prior to the partnership program, all of GenG’s valorant activities have taken place in North America
-According to Forbes, the org is valued at over 185 million USD, making them the 6th most valuable esports org in the world.

NORTH AMERICAN ROSTER
-GenG’s North American team was their first official venture into Valorant, despite being a South Korean Org. The majority of this overview will go over On Sla2ers, which consisted of 3 players currently on GenG before disbanding (OnSla2ers matches are also listed under GenG on VLR)

-GenG’s initial venture into Valorant consisted of ex-counter strike pros looking for a new home, with matches extending as far back as May 2020. The team would struggle through first strike and fall short of playoffs
-Despite a slew of roster moves and some promising results, GenG failed to attend any international events, only putting up a 3rd place finish at the regional Masters 1. After a 5th-6th place exit in LCQ, GenG were done for the 2021 season and overhauled their roster
-In 2022 GenG failed to make either of the group stages, ending their VCT season in May. The team still played some offseason tournaments, but when they began to forfeit matches in the MCT Premiership, many realized GenG’s time in North America was over.

KOREAN ROSTER
-The roster that would become On Sla2ers and partially GenG later on consisted of

-k1ng
-bazzi
-TS
-zunba
-GodDead

-The team played their way through the open qualifiers and earned themselves a spot in the Korean challengers group stage, and made their way all through the playoff bracket to the grand finals with the opportunity to qualify for Masters 1, but fell short to DRX and were swept 0-3.
-In the second challengers split, On Sla2ers won their first 3 matches in groups, but lost week 4, and bombed out of playoffs shortly after. K1ng and zunba departed the roster shortly after.
-Eko and Estrella were brought in as stand-ins for LCQ. They lost their opening match to Chinese representatives EDG, but clawed their way through the lower bracket to secure a rematch in the grand finals against EDG, who again beat them 0-3.
-Shortly after it was announced GenG had made franchising, TS and Eko were both picked up and reunited with k1ng, and Meteor joined from Northeption. Secret from desperado would round out the roster with iNTRO as a 6th man, but iNTRO would depart the roster in late december. There are no current reports on who the new substitute could be.
-Assuming no further roster moves are made, GenG in Sao Paolo will be:

-Secret
-TS
-Eko
-k1ng
-Meteor

GenG coach Bail said Lakia's wrist injury prevented him from doing well in the tryout. Also Damwon unwillingness to sell their players to other Korean orgs too.

isnt secret meant to be the 6th player, he is the youngest so he has some space to learn. Korea doesn't really have any great raze players available no?

he played in the gwangju tournament and from what i heard, he's going to be in the starting lineup but i could be wrong. and yeah the only good raze player available is ssun. foxy9 or bazzi would have been amazing but they're taken.

maybe they promote someone from GGA, but I don't know if that's really connected. Kally seems to grind raze in ranked

What did any Korean teams do throughout the year?

DRX went 4-0 vs FPX at Champs and sent Fnatic home.

Must be rough that DRX historically owned EMEA's strongest team of 2022, going 3-1 in series and 6-3 in maps.

Everyone knows Korea is 1 team region, meanwhile EMEA at that point of time had like 6 insane teams, out of whom only 3 could ever qualify to an international

yeah, we're a 1 team region because we have literally only one slot lmao, remember how KRU was the only team to make it out of LATAM for 2021?

and EMEA sent 3 teams to Champs and all 3 got sent home, 2 of them by our one team. Kinda crazy that despite all of your crazy competitiveness between your top 6, two of the top 3 couldn't beat DRX when it mattered most.

6 insane teams and none of them could achieve top 3 at Champs, whereas two teams from one team regions (Brazil and Korea) did. Maybe you guys should follow their footsteps.

No, you're one team region because you don't deserve any more slots

2nd best KR Onslayers lost to EDG lmfao

About EMEA - at that point of time, we had FPX, FNC, TL, M3C, G2, OGLU, Navi, Acend, all of whom are stronger than Onslayers or anyone else from APAC besides DRX/PRX/ZETA

I thought you would be one of the users to understand this. When you keep sending one team they will only get better and better. Drx stacked up on that Lan experience and just ran off w it. I promise you franchise should be different in 1 year or so but drx are probably the hardest workers in asia so its not easy. Which is another reason why its hard to consistently beat them.

No one in Korea has gotten even close to beating DRX the entire year, aside from one playoff game if I remember correctly. Onslayers, Damwon etc. were actual garbage teams and you could see it by their gameplay, they never improved no matter what happened.

I can say the same about EMEA - 3 slots was too few for us, if we were to send 4th team everytime, we would improve much more, and 4th team would deliver great results.

The best thing that will happen when Valorant dies in EMEA because the region fails internationally is people like this will disappear and go back to their 20 yearold game that’s only popular in ancient Europe.

Nah ONS has beaten them before. Damwon was always somewhat close. And drx even almost lost 2-0 to WGS in playoffs and that was during the qualifier to either Copenhagen or iceland. Teams just cant beat them drx consistently cause its not easy when they work 2 times harder and never get a chance to scrim them once. Unlike Eu and Na korean teams dont scrim at all never have so far I think. Im telling yall the year drx opens its scrims up to fellow korean teams we will get better. Dont know if yall know this but after ONS opening match loss against EDG. Drx started scrimming and practicing against them. Probably one of the biggest reasons why they made that lower bracket run w 2 subs

Reminder that DRX finished 6th (i.e. middle of the pack) on both Masters last year. They're not as good as you claim them to be. They only showed somewhat admirable performance at Champions. And ONS had their chance to qualify against EDG, but they blew it.

I like to think drx was very capable of reaching top 3 on both masters but ended up choking isnt that where the whole choking part came from. They just lose in close fashion obv besides that 2-0 from Fpx in copenhagen. Also they are improving at a pretty steady rate so I think they will get even better. Also I think its not really fair to downplay teams losing to EDG considering they are chinas best team to offer right now. It was also their first lan and they had a lot of different complications to overcome. Dont be surprised on how good EDG really is considering they are respected by drx. Sure the other korean teams were pretty overhyped especially damwon but this franchising will really help the korean scene. Big Korean orgs are invested now with proper bootcamp and more fans to interact with will only push koreans and other asian teams to work harder. Til this day asia is known for working hard. How do you think korea and china become best in other games. They outwork other regions. If this happens in valorant the gap from WEST and EAST will get shorter a lot faster than you think
