Can someone please give a coherent argument for why football is more enjoyable than American football other than it is more popular? Im not saying I don't like football but ive genuinely never seen anyone respond to the claim that american football is better with anything other than 'L + irrelevant unpopular sport'

the ads are annoying but nearly as bad as people act. And is that it?

no reason to watch it over rugby,it has less ads,the players arent covered in armour and rugby is a global sport

football is too dangerous even with pads/helmets. soon, no sane parent will let their kids play and get CTE so idk what ur talking about. football would not exist if they didn’t wear “armor”

the ads are annoying

but that’s a jab at the media aspect, not the actual sport

Im an nba enjoyer but even basketball can be boring if the match have a lot of break from a violations/timeouts. Its much more enjoyable when you watch the sports as a whole, seeing the dynamic of the game itself as the time goes by, unlike the sports match that stop every like 3-5 minutes

eventhough football became boring now except for certain game but I still prefer it over american football. I dont know shit about the sport but just the scene of dudes wearing armor and run into each other like buffalos is so putting off.

American football players are tough and spend the whole game tackling people and getting tackled and literally wrestling each other mid sprint
soccer players fall to the ground crying if anyone even brushes them
Tough American football players > crybaby soccer players

"lets just jump and hump each other while chasing and throwing an egg, while getting some space in the field" "person go bonk haha" "hit really hard haha"

Lets just spend an hour and a half kicking a ball back an forth while the fans take a nap and occasionally fake an injury so i can get a free kick and win the 2 hour game 1 - 0

a lot of americans seem to have the opinion that a game can’t be exciting if there are few goals. obviously it’s disappointing if a game ends 0-0 but if you’re not remotely interested in what happens between the goals then either you’re not invested in the teams or you don’t understand what’s going on

I guess its just I prefer the way you get the ball across the field in american football more than normal football. Its all objective i geuss.

-banter between countrys >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> banter between chicago and washington or between texas and michigan
-skills required to dodge another player using only your legs or to pass without someone putting on the way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> egg on hand if someone catches you he can literally tackle you and 99% of tackles are illegal and the play its getting repeated wtf??????? also you cant pass the egg to a teammate who is ahead of you and if you place your toes on the goal THATS IT??? no skill to get a goal? no point and shoot? just run and thats it?
-world cup its every 4 years a lot of hype >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> super bowl its yearly its repetitive and less hyped LMAO imagine having eminem, dr dre and snoop dog and it still wasnt that hyped up world wide.

To me it's mainly cause it's something we could replicate easily around homes even with improper equipments and circumstances and therefore we understand how it feels to play, simplicity, familiarity, and the understanding of spatial tactics as well as what it takes to play well. American football isn't familiar, rules are weird to me, and after learning about rugby league it feels like rugby league is more understandable with the more toughness

that makes sense, since america is the only country where you'll find an eggball just lying around its the only country where anyone could just throw on a game of american football and everyone would be able to follow and understand everything meanwhile pretty much everyone around the world understands football

I watched the USA - England game.

Nearly 2 hours.

The most exciting thing that happened was someone hit the goalpost.

Lol

Soccer is more of a “home sport” + it is a better viewing experience since there’s no ad break every “down”, the game is more continuous and without breaks, it involves more split-second decision making since it isn’t really about set plays, the game is more worldwide, etc

simplicity ofc, be it the plays nor rules also like everyone said (rarely) no downtime in the game

I think its sad to see a group people outside of their athletic prime bashing heads for spurts of 30 seconds to have lasting TBI's all because capitalism is a broken system

i don't particularly enjoy either tbh, but I respect the sports. i'm impatient; American football gets stopped like every 10 seconds, football they only score a few times a game usually. so I enjoy basketball where it's faster paced and high scoring

How do you explain how one thing is more enjoyable than the other. Can you explain why one thing is tastier than the other? I just don't enjoy watching american football, its not fun for me. Im sure most people in the world share the same sentiment which is why it isnt played in the ROW. Yall also have some attention span or something lol, a game doesn't need to have 2-3 goals for it to be interesting, sure 0-0 draws are boring sometimes and a lot of the times 0-0 games are very intense and fun

Both are enjoyable, my only problem with American Football is the excessive pauses with excessive ads. Of course it is like that because of how the sport is played but I dislike it anyways.

I never played American Football myself but I enjoy football a lot, it's intense and really entertaining to do with friends
