^^^^

There should be regional qualifiers for each of the franchising spots, idc if that’s gonna make a busy year, it’s better than just killing most of the scene

im surprised riot are so interested in faze given whats come out about their finances

What does riot even want from these orgs in order for them to be allowed in franchising? On the outside it seems as simple as saying okay you're in.

financials, investment, stability, marketing

And a good esports project, one of the main reasons why they’re not charging for franchising spots and instead giving orgs money is to have not only the rich orgs, but “good” orgs who care and will better the experience for viewers

Management and commitment to the game
Ex. They didn’t like SEN/TSM management so no slot.
Ex. EG and C9 have shown commitment to the game and have money to pay for rosters so they got a slot

#23

? so they won't let SEN/TSM in unless they fire management? Are these like personality issues or what that seems really weird.

#25

Yes, TSM’s management is notoriously bad(just look at their league team and Reginald), and they disliked Sentinels because they don’t have the drive to invest/win in the game

#26

I can understand TSM rejection, plenty of scandals there

I'm no Sentinels fan but that reasoning is so dull, maybe SEN management believes this exact team will come back to its 1-year-ago form, they are not supposed to change players every time, they can do whatever they feel like to do, maybe SEN indeed thinks this roster can be highly competitive

Riot has no right to deny Sentinels application just because of that, I mean... It makes no sense, It's almost like Riot judges Sentinels using some out of place factors

We can never definitively tell why riot chose x team over y team, riot is pretty secretive with their selection. All I can say is that riot saw something they didn’t like in SEN. And I’m also not saying there’s no way SEN’s getting a spot next year, there’s still half a year left for them to decide.

ew I was kind of neutral on franchising but this is weird L rito

#30

no its because sen is player run/has little upper management and probably is in most of their games, atleast thats what imperialhal said about their apex team

#59

Riot is putting up the money and paying orgs who they approve. It's almost like a job application, so surely, they have every right to reject SEN. Whether we like the reasoning or not.

Side note to Brazilian fans:
FURIA and MIBR will likely restructure their rosters, and possibly sign mw and heat.

VK might also choose to continue as smaller org with smaller footprint in tier 2-3 competitions as 3rd parties create tournaments next year.

Faze? After the report that theyre going broke, i think NRG is more franchise-able. NRG adding assistant coach + analyst + mental coach also shows they're investing more to valorant and interested in franchise

#36

TSM stopped investing in their league team also, and so many scandals in the management prolly why riot rejected their proposal in valorant.

If there is more than 2 Brazilian teams in the America's VCT, then riot is throwing.

Korea and Brazil are similar. They got 1 team, a second team that can make an international lan and then NOTHING ELSE.

TSM has been popular since the beginning of the game. Plus they have a main team, academy team, and female team, showing their commitment to growing the scene. I assume they were rejected since they weren’t good enough (only top 12 with limited spots)? Then again, EG hasn’t been consistent, and C9 struggled this event. Plus, how could you not bring in OpTic immediately.

Also sources

TLDR: exclusive league / tournament circuit that is closed with presumably no open qualification. It's more or less invite only for orgs, limited number of slots per region (they're combining regions). More details being revealed by the week.
