via. George Geddes new franchising details have been released.

Franchise slots will have 8-10 slots per continentual league, subject to change

Assuming that it will follow a 10 team system, we could see a slot breakdown similar to this via region via guessing & market:
Americas: 5/6 NA, 3 BR, 2/1 LATAM
APAC: 5 APAC, 3 JP, 2 KR
EMEA: 7 EU+CIS, 3 TR

Thoughts and what teams do you think will make it? Here are some other updates on new teams interested in franchising since the announcement:
SK Gaming 🇯🇵
KT Rolster 🇰🇷
SANDBOX Gaming 🇰🇷
GHIBLI Esports 🇰🇷
2 big orgs to SG/MY

-7 but you're speaking facts

While CSGO prospers with lots of tournaments, majors, top tier events, crowds, rebuilding from long online era, Valarante only buries itself more and more with lack of matches and opportunities

Bcz people here doesn't give a shit about the game or pro scene improvements. They will accept every shit riot delivers and will support until the eternity. Everything you criticize about the game, system or comparing to other game that does better in certain aspect people will downvote blindly.

That doggy behavior created this modus operandi by riot who doesn't give a shit about what we think.

APAC is booming with interest from orgs (korea specifically) that want to be in franchising but in EU orgs are backing away from franchising (according to my sources)

franchising is basically european super league right? idk much about it

Franchising is where a team pays x amount of money for a permanent spot in the event. This benefits the orgs because they have the threat of open circuit where they can lose and not have events for months which makes the orgs get no return on their investment. With having a permanent spot in the league they get a return on their investment. However franchising has it's downsides because with only 6 teams the game risks becoming stagnant with the same teams playing each other. Also open circuit system is gone which means there will be no DHBK (Kooky koalas) or The Guard storylines. Another downside of franchising is that it affects the tier 2 scene greatly. Tier 2 orgs won't be able to afford the spot in the league and they will be locked out of real Tier 1 competition and I believe that in order for valorant to not become it is ESSENTIAL that the tier 2 scene is supported so that new players can enter the league. T2 overwatch is dead and riot must learn from OWL's mistakes in order for the game to succeed from franchising.

sorry for writing a thesis btw :) it's a summary of franchising

Good summery. One mention is that in this system I don't believe teams will have to pay a fee to get in. Riot will choose from a list of teams that applied to be in. I'm not sure how much that will change though.

yes. even then I'd say a t2 league would not be enough to warrant only 5-6 north american teams to exist in the first division. They should be looking to bring 5 na teams to champs, let alone their own region

Lmfao there is, EMEA for example, all 12 challengers teams are good enough, Americas are fine too, APAC has plenfy of competition, you could say this only for KR or JP

#37
Shownu

Frags

Only 3 teams can compete in the international tournaments. Small league is better for growth. Less variance between the strength of teams will make the regions stronger overall.

In Americas you have C9, Optic, TSM, Luminosity, XSET, SEN, 100T, NRG, TGRD, Faze, EG, Ghost, V1, Furia, NIP, LOUD, VK, KRU and Leviatan. I dont think so

takeaway is that Riot needs to pump up their Tier 2 production or get orgs like BLAST for their 3rd party tournaments if they're going with this format.

I cant help but feeling that the clout orgs like Sen, 100ts, and TSM are going to take up all the spots and teams like Xset are going to be left out. Tragedy

Riot has to make sure the T2 scene stays alive otherwise ull end up in an overwatch contenders situation and they need to have more teams 10 for a league spaning 8-10 subregions is actually cap(remember eu orgs who have no chance in EMEA and ogling at APAC atm)

I don't understand why Riot is mixing the Americas. LATAM, BR and NA should have their own franchising leagues, like in LoL

And 8-10 teams is too little, Valve and cs:go laughing if this really happen lmao

#88
number1_MIBR_hater
0
Frags
+

lmfao i always felt like tournaments have very little spots and should have at least 16+ teams, and now riot does this. they should at least do sth for the rest of the scene right? maybe divisions just like in sports would be fine

#86
Olofboost

Frags

What's bad about having 2-3 games at the same time

More games = better formats, since you can do much longer round robins / swiss stages within the same time gap, which pleases viewers as they get to see their favourite teams a lot more

#87
SUPREMOCOC
-1
Frags
+

Less exposure of small orgs. Less profit.

#94
Olofboost
0
Frags
+

More exposure of small orgs because they play twice or three times number of games
More profit because way bigger airtime for showing all the sponsors and the ads

You actually have no clue about it, you think "one stream good" while in fact 2-3x streams with 2-3x more played matches is so much better
