Loversrock been putting up great numbers aswell as globeX, his team mate.

loverrock is also ranked 1 on ladder.

The whole team is quite interesting, nice to see them make east.

Thoughts on the potential navi role swap?

It's something they did in the most recent off//season event and something they have toyed around with during last season.

Honestly it might be a genius move.

Ange1 on initiator:
It's nice to have the igl on a role that can dictate the tempo.
In theory he should be less aggressive as the scan initiator is normally the closer in the team and their kits are used to set up team mates.
Less ange1 omen tps.

Shao on controller:
Mechanically strong enough and smart enough to be a strong anchor.
Would also allow him to be a closer on defence
On attack he could also be a closer (depending on compositions, he may be a pack player if he plays omen) but with his mechanics I wouldn't mind him being aggressive.

I mean that is a promising lineup.
It will be interesting to see what pAura can do with those young stars.

Ascent has been in the map pool for a very long time.
The standard comp for the map has stayed the same for a while.

There hasn't been as much tactical development on ascent compared to other maps.

Best ascension duelist?
He didn't even play ascension.

Role swaps + weak system + Harder opposition = underperformance

posted about a year ago

Navi is still a top team and can contend for titles.

but I just can't trust them.
They are way too inconsistent in their comps, roles, vetoes and performances.
If they can hit some consistency they are a scary team.

posted about a year ago

I think teams like heretics and KC do have very high ceiling just based on how mechanical their rosters are.
But the likelihood they reach their peaks is quite unlikely, which shows by the gap between my prediction and ceiling.

Navi.. is still a very strong roster.
A team with shao and suygetsu always has the chance to contend for titles as long as the rest of the team can perform.
A little bit of consistency with comps and a bit less trolling would help.

No.
The new KC roster has a really high ceiling (potential).
There is always ways to improve ... always new ways to innovate and develop.
However the amount you can improve decreases as you improve. The gains become marginal but still important in tier 1.

KC looks a lot closer to the finished product that TH does.

By a "finished product" I mean a coherent team that works well together.
A team that knows what they are doing and what their team mates are doing.

posted about a year ago

Yeah that is definitely possible.

On the positive side.. patitek should be a good standin for wo0t for the kick-off event.
Regardless I still don't think TH is a competitor for those madrid spots.

A lot of improvement is needed but there is still time for this young squad.

posted about a year ago

A very outdated comp from Heretics..
Sage feels like an agent stuck in the past.

KC looking a lot better than I thought at this point of the season.

Both teams packed with high potential and mechanical players however KC looks a lot closer to the finished product that TH does.

It's two group of 3 teams.
Only the winner of the group will advance.

Group A: Vitality, Furia, Global
Group B: Fut, GENG, TR

Because Vitality won both games it means they will advance.

Group B comes down to the last game, FUT VS GENG.
Whoever wins that game will advance.

In the event of a tie between one or more teams, the tie will be broken on the basis of the following criteria in order of priority:

  1. Number of points scored during the phase (victory = 1 point, loss = 0)
  2. Head to Head victories
  3. Number of rounds scored in Head to Head
  4. Number of Head to Head rounds conceded
  5. Number of rounds scored
  6. Number of rounds conceded

If one or more teams are still tied, a Tie Break will be played to break the tie.

Happy to see XIT picked up, it's also a good pickup for Legacy to try and compete in ascension.

I wasn't a fan of the old Legacy roster plan, it feels too forced and doesn't feel like the natural progression that the GC scene should have.

I was kinda worried about Brazilian tier 2 after hearing some of the news coming out but it's nice to see some more positive news in recent times, hopefully it continues.

It will still be very hard to Brazil and Latam to compete with some of these Na teams.
NA t2 having access to scrims with franchised teams is a huge plus.
Teams like OXG are looking very scary and if they keep improving like they have been... who knows how strong they might become.

The swiss stage will be pretty similar to a normal group stage, except in theory with less duplicate matchups?
8 teams means, 2 wins and you are qualify and 2 losses and you are out.

Thanks.
Yeah a lot of that makes sense in order to maintain integrity for the ascension event.
Except for the 3 teams (wbg/tes/rng) potentially disbanding before the event itself.

The likelihood is that the losers of the ascension event may get picked up, especially with the calibre of the teams in the event (RA/ASE.. and some talented players on the remaining teams).

It will be interesting to see what kind of T2 community forms in china after the dust settles.

posted about a year ago

Yeah he looks pretty good.
He's 19 and has been dominating these t3 events especially in this off//season.

It will be interesting to see how he handles t2 turkey.
Keep an eye on the "TESFED Turkish Cup ", his team is competing in it and theres a few good t2 turkish teams in there (like ff).

Never mind Howl withdrew from the event due to health issues.

It's going to be a crazy time, especially if the franchising leaks are true.
Multiple orgs that have made franchising have rosters which are in dire need of upgrades.
A few teams may need to drop players in order to fit the import rules.

However... with CN ascension slated to be happening soon orgs may be reluctant to sell their rosters.

It's going to be an exciting few weeks of roster moves and constructions until KICK-OFF starts.

It could but it's not a guarantee.
Wolves' owner the Fosun Group are a minor investor in EG.
So in theory they could sell up.

Because ranked performance does not directly translate to pro play.
Ranked lacks the structure and coordination we see in tier 1.

Gomez said in the interview that were a groupchat with a lot of the other owners who had applied.
Majority of the orgs had been denied.
Less then 10 said they were accepted.
A few said they were wait-listed.
Order x PWR had not been rejected or accepted at this point, so things were looking positive.

----- (speculating)
So the likelihood is that they were very close.

OCE FRANCHISING TIMELINE:
Information from: https://youtu.be/ghPztYNocf0?si=pFluiKkg0BESxPpd&t=6963
Great interview by Elfish Guy, where he interviews Gomez (a historic oce figure who had worked in management positions in order/pwr/100t)

A few oce orgs applied for the partnership (this did not include pwr)
Every OCE org got rejected except ORDER.

Order had then made it to the interview phase, which required a meeting with riot.

Riot were focused on 3 main requirements:

  1. How good you were at the game/esports (competitiveness)
  2. Fanbase
  3. Money/financially

At the time Order passed the financial checks and after a lot of convincing they also passed the competitiveness check.
OCE at the time had lacked the opportunities to proof themselves in valorant however there were countless amounts of OCE pro's in other esports (like LoL/cs/apex) which showed that if given the opportunity oce could thrive.

Despite Order being a big org they lacked the fanbase.

So the idea of a ORDER x PWR , duo venture came about.
After a few meetings they were on board.
Riot were also happy with this idea as it would bring a big fanbase into valorant.

Order around this time were trying to get investment for the cs team and valorant team, this was not very successful.
On reflection this is around the time the esports winter had started, with crypto crashing and other issues going on.

Riot were doing a deeper check on the orgs financial side and they realised how bad the situation was and decided not to go through with it.

posted about a year ago

Valorant esport of the year?

It had quite a lot of issues this year especially regarding T2.
I don't know enough about the other esports to say if it was deserved or not.

Though if valorant fixes some of the issues for 2024 then they will probably win again.
