Hello all!
I made some dashboards showing data for NRG as a team and for individual players.
If you guys want to check them out here's the link: https://github.com/Flame4Game/NRG-2025-Dashboards/tree/main/Dashboards
Any feedback is appreciated! it's my first time doing anything like this.

Poland is stacked bro you have Filu, grubinho, kamyk, unfake, NINJA/patitek off the bench

Yeah the thing is that while it's hard to pin comps down by role, there's nothing wrong with the current classifications because there will always be comps that don't obey the roles.

So here are the 5 roles :
Duelist (Any duelist)
Off (2nd Duelist, Senti-off)
Reveal (Sova, Fade, Skye, some delu team will add Tejo)
Def (2nd Controller, Senti-def)
Controller (Any controller)

Let's take no-duelist comps, like Chamber comps in 2022 or Icebox comps in 2024/5.
Comp A: Sova/Fade/KAYO/Chamber/Astra
Comp B: Sova/Omen/Viper/Killjoy/Sage

For comp A would you have: KAYO Duelist, Fade Off, Sova Reveal, Chamber Def, Astra Controller? or switch Chamber and KAY/O or Fade?
For comp B would you have: Omen Duelist, Sage Off, Sova Reveal, Killjoy Def, Viper Controller?

Riot's roles are not the best for describing agents, but they work mostly within compositions. Before 2026, most comps had one of each + a flex. Will there be exceptions? Definitely. But that doesn't mean the system itself is flawed.

posted 2 months ago

invy's natural role is flash initiator. I don't hate the roles on Bind, it was how they played that was shit.

posted 2 months ago

Icebox

Omen - Astra - Viper - Killjoy - Sova

IDK if Omen is off-meta enough for this to count but it would be pretty cool to see triple smokes on a map. Game plan on offense is to just abuse mid, on defense it’s to have an insane amount of stall with all of the util.

posted 2 months ago

i see. thanks for the info then!

posted 2 months ago

is he? i remember ellement being insanely hyped a year ago. didn’t know chaza was like that

posted 2 months ago

why is ellement on sentinel jail T_T

put him as the second duelist and have Chaza play senti

posted 2 months ago

he plays fade, skye, tejo, can flex to Breach/KAY/O/Sage, and also sentinel if needed (although with the current roster construction he definitely won't). He had quite a couple games on KJ (and maybe Cypher)? on OXG cause mitch wanted to play initiator if there was only one.
He also has the aim to play Chamber (which he has a lot of games on in the past), and probably play Duelist if his calling wasn't needed.

posted 2 months ago

I don't get why they don't have zekken/Verno on KAYO/Sova and then Mazino on Astra.

posted 2 months ago

wayne was the hyped prospect coming out of SEA. His ceiling is insane and I doubt that his performances the last few games are representative of his talent.

If you guys are going to shit on him maybe wait a couple more games, instead of being reactionary.

posted 2 months ago

nt NRGA. Is chloric still IGLing? Putting up numbers like that while calling is insane stuff, never mind also running Duelist.

SAD looks pretty nice ngl. jerrwin looks good in a good system. never heard of zaj before but his yoru is quite nice.

posted 2 months ago

aspas > Chron > Ethan?

posted 2 months ago

Yeah, he's not suited to Waylay.

Yoru is more of a comfort pick for him, let him lean into that and let seven play Waylay/ hard entry.

posted 2 months ago

I see. I do like that comp with Jett instead of Waylay, maybe swap Omen for Viper/a sentinel to allow benjy to play a comfort role.

Do you think Comeback should play mostly Yoru then for Double duelists, and then Chamber on maps where you need a sentinel and benjy Viper?

posted 2 months ago

I agree, the only problem is that some maps don't have a designated oper, like Abyss has a lot of Astra-Omen-Sova-Kay/o-Waylay or something, or any double controller, sentinel, comp that doesn't have a Chamber.

Maybe you try to stay away from those comps but you lose a bit of flexibility

posted 2 months ago

plus he's IGLing.

Shao

posted 2 months ago

I see. That's pretty solid analysis actually.

posted 2 months ago

I can see that but what do you mean exactly?

Riot isn't going to change her label in the agent select screen.

If you mean she shouldn't be treated as a sentinel in comp archetypes then that's fair, she never really was anyway, she's ran solo on maps that usually dont have a normal sentinel like Bind/Split.

Do you think Deadlock is a sentinel?

posted 2 months ago

I also wrote a program to check the pick rate of agents depending on their "comp role" - Entry, Smokes, Anchor, Info, Flex.

Smokes: Omen 77, Astra 69, Brimstone 12, Viper/Harbor 1
Anchor: Viper 58, Killjoy 32, Cypher/Veto 20, Chamber 14, Astra 5, Brimstone/Sage 3, Jett/Harbor/Yoru/Neon/Vyse 1
Entry: Waylay 65, Neon 37, Raze 22, Yoru 20, Jett 16
Flex: Yoru 75, Viper 28, KAY/O 15, Breach 10, Tejo 9, Raze 6, Phoenix/Skye 5, Omen 3, Sage 2, Harbor/Reyna 1
Info: Sova 80, Fade 53, Skye 13, Tejo 12, Gekko 2

posted 2 months ago

yeah, wasn't double duelist/double controller gaining popularity last year anyway? Crazy how the sentinel/initiator nerfs were what they decided to go with...

posted 2 months ago

Hey, hope you guys are doing well.
I decided to manually compile all the comps played in the last three days (tier one and tier 2), to get a good picture at what comps/agents people are playing. I took into account comp archetype (number of each role) as well as agent pick rate.

OVERALL (Sample size: 160 comps)
Double Duelist, Double Controller, 0 senti - 44
Double Duelist - 43
Double Controller - 32
Double Controller, Double Initiator, 0 senti - 23
Double Initiator - 13
Double Duelist, Double Initiator, 0 senti - 3
Double Sentinel - 2

Yoru - 96
Viper - 87
Sova, Omen - 80
Astra - 74
Waylay - 65
Fade - 53
Neon - 38
Killjoy - 32
Raze - 28
Tejo - 21
Veto, Cypher - 20
Skye - 18
Jett - 17
KAY/O, Brimstone - 15
Chamber - 14
Breach - 10
Phoenix, Sage, Harbor, Gekko, Reyna, Vyse - <5

Notes: Double Controller is in 62% of all comps, and Double Duelist in 56%, as expected. 44% of comps are no-senti, which is kind of insane.

Abyss (Sample size: 30 comps)
Double Duelist - 13
Double Duelist, Double Controller, 0 senti - 5
Double Initiator - 3
Double Controller - 3
Double Duelist, Double Initiator, 0 senti - 3
Double Controller, Double Initiator, 0 senti - 3

Astra - 29
Sova - 26
Waylay - 23
Yoru - 22
Veto - 12
Omen, Cypher - 7
Breach, Tejo - 6
Jett - 4
KAY/O, Brimstone, Viper, Harbor, Neon, Reyna - <2

Notes: no-sentinel has become increasingly viable. Double-duelist takes up 21/30 comps. Mostly Sova, although Tejo is still an alternative. Lots of Waylay and Yoru. All controllers save Clove see play, which is crazy since Astra is already basically being picked every time.

Bind (Sample size: 16 Comps)
Double Controller, Double Initiator, 0 senti - 6
Double Controller, Double Duelist, 0 senti - 5
Double Duelist - 3
Double Controller - 2

Viper - 13
Brimstone, Raze - 10
Fade, Skye - 8
Waylay - 7
Yoru - 5
Astra, Chamber, Tejo - 4
Veto, Breach, Omen, Gekko, Jett, Harbor, Phoenix - 1

Notes: Still a very varied meta. Some non-viper but mostly favors her.

Breeze (Sample Size: 20 Comps)
Double Duelist, Double Controller, 0 senti - 11
Double Controller, Double Initiator, 0 senti - 3
Double Duelist - 3
Double Controller - 3

Sova - 19
Viper, Yoru - 17
Astra - 13
Jett - 12
Omen - 6
Neon - 4
Waylay, Cypher, Brimstone, Veto, Skye, Vyse, Fade, KAY/O, Sage - <2

Notes: There is a clear archetype and meta comp, with only small variations on it, whether it be swapping the Jett for a Neon/Waylay/Sentinel, or the Astra for an Omen/Brim.

Corrode (Sample size: 22 comps)
Double Controller, Double Initiator, 0 senti - 8
Double Duelist, Double Controller, 0 senti - 7
Double Duelist - 4
Double Controller - 3

Omen - 20
Waylay - 16
Viper - 15
Fade - 13
Yoru - 11
Sova, KAY/O - 8
Neon, Chamber, Astra - 3
Sage, Cypher, Gekko, Phoenix, Brimstone, Veto, Raze - <2

Notes: The NRG comp and mosquito comp are still the most popular ones. Fade/Sova is still a big debate.

Haven (Sample size: 24 comps)
Double Controller - 16
Double Duelist - 7
Double Initiator - 1

Omen - 23
Sova - 22
Neon - 18
Viper - 16
Killjoy - 15
Yoru - 10
Cypher - 8
Fade, Waylay, Astra, Chamber, Phoenix, Breach - <2

Notes: Probably the most set meta. You can really pick between the Viper comp or the Neon-Yoru comp; others are more niche.

Pearl (Sample size: 22 comps)
Double Duelist - 13
Double Initiator - 9

Astra - 21
Killjoy - 16
Yoru - 16
Fade - 13
Neon - 10
Tejo - 9
Sova - 5
Chamber, KAY/O - 4
Phoenix, Cypher, Raze, Brimstone, Sage - 1

Notes: Here the archetypes are pretty set, but the agents themselves are a bit more varied. Astra dominates, but after that there's a debate - Killjoy or Chamber, Fade or Tejo/Sova, etc.

Split (Sample size: 26 comps)
Double Duelist, Double Controller, 0 senti - 16
Double Controller - 5
Double Controller, Double Initiator, 0 senti - 3
Double Sentinel - 2

Viper - 24
Omen - 23
Raze, Fade - 16
Yoru - 15
Skye, Waylay - 9
Veto, Astra - 3
Breach, Chamber, Tejo, Cypher, Sage, Killjoy, Neon - <2

Notes: The "main comp" of Omen - Viper - Raze - Yoru - Fade is the most popular. The alternatives, like swapping a sentinel or an initiator for one of the duelists, are viable too.

let's hear it

posted 2 months ago

Haven't seen BDX's Bind comp since 2022 Fnatic

posted 2 months ago

I went and looked for the solo Yoru comps so far this year.

VIT: Astra - Sage - Yoru - Tejo - Fade
PCF: Astra - Killjoy - Sage - Yoru - Fade
LOUD: Astra - Killjoy - Yoru - Tejo - Fade

So very niche, only cause they're playing two initiators without a flash, or double senti.

Viper may be possible on Pearl but I just don't see it.

posted 2 months ago

Vyse is shit.
Yoru's fine but again, how much solo Yoru do you see outside of the tejo meta on pearl? It's just so much better to have that extra duelist.

posted 2 months ago

Other maps work without flash, but Pearl in particular hasn't.
Most of Haven's picks were from double controller with a Sova, and worked cause Viper was good at taking A.
Icebox have always had no-flash comps, it's not a map where you need to get through chokes often.
Pearl is just a different map.

posted 2 months ago

You're not getting through any chokes without flashes. Pearl has basically never gotten no-flash comps played.

Lotus comp revolves around taking map control, specifically A. Where are you taking control of with a Viper on Pearl? Not mid. I'd much rather have the extra Kay/O knife, or entry power with the duelist.

On defense too, Waylay/Neon and Yoru means much better fighting capabilities early on in the round. KAY/O also excels at retaking, although Viper might have the edge here.

Overall, though, Viper on Pearl just seems so not worth it.

posted 2 months ago

In 2022 the meta just wasn’t figured out too much, that’s not really relevant.

2023 most teams ran viper-harbor which was only possible with skye. rarely teams ran viper-astra. once viper nerfs came the meta was clearly double init, then double duelist in 2025.

It’s just… what are you gonna do with a Viper? Especially with the changes, I don’t like the default B attack wall as much. And are you going no sentinel? or solo yoru for flashes/entry? i don’t think lots of people play solo yor on pearl, not since tejo meta anyway.

posted 2 months ago

I think it's def penny Duelist. Demon1 by now is gonna be best as a senti and it was never penny's main position anyway.

posted 2 months ago

maybe an error on vlr's side, I highly doubt a sub from Thailand came in lmao

posted 2 months ago

what are the roles gonna be?
renz Duelist
chloric Flex
geeza Initiator
Ange Smokes
Shondex senti?

posted 2 months ago

Astra-Harbor in theory is pretty good on Abyss so I can understand kinda why they wanted to try it, but pancada really didn't seem comfortable.
Maybe Darker on Harbor and pancada astra?

posted 2 months ago

just saw it, ty!

Wait is it going to be streamed on the main stream? Did it already happen?

The thing is, as much as I want to be with you in terms of not being too polarized, it’s really hard to treat this as as ambivalent of an issue as, say, economics. This is innocents getting killed (or if you’re a conservative, unprovoked backlash against just actions).
Are most people jumping to conclusions based on what other people say? Undoubtedly. But having an ambivalent opinion here is possibly worse.

posted 2 months ago

It's probably to at least make Tejo a little bit more viable as a recon initiator, currently the meta is very hard Sova/Fade, with basically zero play from Gekko, non-recon-initiators, and a tiny bit of Skye.

posted 3 months ago

Polarization has been made wayyyy too prevalent with all aspects of social media. Political polarization is the most prominent but even on sites like vlr youll often see more extreme viewpoints rather than nuanced ones.

Let’s say you think Chronicle is the GOAT. This opinion has decreased in popularity after last Champs, and lots of people will disagree with you, usually with downvotes and contrarian comments. Out of the minority that DO agree with you, probably a lot won’t bother to comment in support or even upvote.

The same applies with thinking Aspas is the GOAT. Earlier this was also not popular and wouldnt be upvoted either. After something like his Champs performance though the opinion would be heavily upvoted, and pointing out arguments against him would be futile as youd be downvotes as well.

This isn’t to say one of them is the GOAT or not. I don’t follow Valorant enough to have a solid opinion. But in vlr, like in any other form of media, the more extreme viewpoints get pushed to the top.

And yeah, same applies with politics, reddit, instagram, etc. Youll never see a post about political nuance on reddit, or a reel preaching against polarization. The more extreme viewpoints will always be more popular.

My opinion on this? It sucks. Nothing about politics is objective in any sense (except for things like Nazis suck). Abortion, for instance, isnt objectively wrong or right, you can absolutely have either opinion and they would both be valid (however most pro-choicers arent going around forcing pro-lifers to have abortions, rather than vice versa). Every economic system has its benefits and flaws, and this has been shown in real life scenarios - nothing is perfect.

This isn’t to say that having an opinion is bad, but merely that nuanced discussion is severely lacking on any platform. We should be able to discuss our opinions, while acknowledging we could be wrong and others could be right. Not having this pre-condition is nothing more than pure ego, and is a detriment to society in my opinion. The more we can have actual, respectful discussions, the better we can be.

Sorry for the rant, this topic is pretty personal to me. But I hope you got something from this.
