What makes DRX significantly better in Korea compared to international tournaments? Their executes seem to be world class in Korea, but whenever they play in international tournaments, they lose by the slimmest of margins every time.

It’s not that Astra was being played, it’s who was playing Astra for me. BuZz just didn’t look comfortable on the agent, especially on Split

that's why they lost, man how could they not think of that

#38

When did I say that was the only reason? Obviously none of us have any clue what is actually happening behind the scene, but BuZz’s Chamber and Killjoy were both incredibly good pre-Reykjavik and they threw that completely out the window

I don’t understand why there aren’t any other Korean super teams because you have players like Sylvan and Lakia who seem like they can perfect most Korean teams.

Player base

#8

yes its playerbase thats why our talent is getting exported to JP and NA ofc

#10

Korea has the least playerbase out of any region

#12
KoreanOverlord
3
Frags

because all the other regions are multiple countries???

#16

Frags

Yeahhh???
thats why the scene is bad besides 2 teams. Not much top tier competition

#21

did you miss the point? 150k active player for a single country is good

#24
Nisham

yea but its not enough for healthy competiton and to compete in international level where the playerbases are 1 mil +

#31

yeah but how are you gonna argue talent pool is the issue when 2/5 of JP playoffs talent are korean imports?

#40

The talent pool is great for the amt of playerbase but I dont think its enough for more than 3 Tier 1 teams. NA and EU have atleast 5 Tier 1 teams that can perform. Korea has 2 (I think now it will be 3) but the fact is that 1 slot doesnt allow the talent to grow because Riot decides slots based on playerbase

"All other regions are multiple countries" yes but they are merged as one region unlike korea.

korea is one country with 40 million people with no interest in tac fps

#19

Saya, most of former tier 1 talent went to Japan like Nuturn, former C9

#25

Saya didn't get exported to NA to play valorant tho, he was already staying their because of Overwatch iirc.

#29

Oh ok, I was asking about the players who actually got signed and exported their. Because the only one who come to mind is Xeta. Ban and Saya were already living in NA.

dud i'm not even being bias it's just that player base has a big factor for competitive scene

#7

because they get no pay cuz major korean orgs havent invested in the scene. so our best talent is in japan. even some of our best players like munchkin and harry are unsigned

they do work well internationally. but over the course of the tourney they get antistratted hard

#6

they look so good at start and then throw at playoffs

I think that it is also kind of odd that DRX is not dominating when this initiator based meta seems to favor them.

they dont scrim korean teams, they only scrim the best of apac and china + their execs and game plan in kr isnt close to their international approach

#13

Bc 1 slot, so DRX go to Tournament, get experience, get better, dominate region, go back to tournament, get more exp.
REPEAT

getting hard antistratted over the course of tournament
weak mid round calling (?) when defaults get countered

Drx losing something amid tournament, unlike the others evolving

#30

Their main problem i think is that they don't have that deep strat book, once they get counter strated they lose

#33

i think drx main problem is that their mental get broken easily after one match lose, this is always the pattern

#41
trola

their skill and strat are great but the mentality is not there yet

#44
SilentCypher

Because they don't really have diverse variety to play against they lose their mental sooner.
Like liquid, they're also a momentum based team. Once they start choking ggs

Koreans are not smart like Japanese, decision making is very average
