molly yourself

the skill of maintaining relationships is a lot harder to practice later in life, especially once you're outside of a school environment. dating a toxic first love in high school ends up being a funny story later on - dating a toxic first love in the middle of college can derail your career

you can get a lot out of just dating someone.. i dont think most people in high school do it with like marriage in mind

...whats wrong with saving yourself for marriage
that's what it was like for thousands of years lol

#25

but saving your dating though? thats what people have been seeming to say

or the notion that it's a waste of time to date if not for marriage, that people dont know enough about anything when young?

based on replies in the other thread

#29

i mean yeah it is kind of a waste to date without the intention to marry because what are you doing it for
just wait for the right person to come and you'll experience true love then if that's all you're doing it for
besides if you're dating people only to crack that's not love just saying

#30

it's not to crack bro it's the whole experience of getting to know someone very deeply, and growing together over some months or years

ive learned so much and changed for the better from the long-term relationships ive had. how i tend to deal with others, how others perceive me, how to reach out for help, how to work through dilemmas together.

i dont think i would've gotten any of that out of this myth of locking in and building stable wealth to build some perfect family down the road

Yeah but a thousand years ago they were getting married at 12-17

Brother, that still happens and was still very very common ~30 years ago

Not true at all btw, those relationships are pointless and don't last, every couple I saw in HS were just sitting by themselves not talking looking depressed as hell, I would much rather spend that time fucking around with the homies

the point is to at least put yourself out there. If you are miserable in a relationship, you have the autonomy to just get out of it. But op’s main point is to get yourself some experience early in life. Being a teen is filled with angst and stupid hormonal shit, it’s far more beneficial to put yourself out there sooner rather than later

#41

you have a lot of time, there is no rush to put yourself out there in terms of dating lmfao, especially for a pointless relationship

Different for everybody, some people honestly benefit more from having serious relationships after highschool, it's definitely not necessary

as someone who also graduated many years ago, this is just objectively false lmao

what state do you live in?

#28

high school in NY ?

i think i meant they turned out better in terms of what their social networks look like now, not necessarily how their careers and other paths are going
