EWC made me think why WC doesn't have double elim in knockout instead of Ro32 there were many countries that deserved second chance like Mexico and japan

Many tournaments in chess have a format where losers get a chance to fight for 3rd place.
- itd be wayyy too long
- it allows for these upsets and storylines better, like imagine if cv beat argentina and made it far, in double elim argentina would be able to come back and theyd obv win the second time if cv made it to finals
- kind of same as point 1, too many games for the players itd be sm more injury filled (keep in mind these players also play for clubs and euros and copas etc)
CS Major is also single elim playoffs
LOL Worlds is also single elim playoffs
Only Valorant has a lower bracket
Cs and league are just old and outdated. Cs major had bo3 finals for a long time for example. Most esports now have double elim format. Double elimination bracket system is just better and viable for esports unlike sports.
And league msi also has double elimination format now. Riot is learning.
It's not an online game, being super active for 90mins isn't that easy bruv also keeping in mind the injuries, which can bench u for months
lower bracket from RO8 it's only 6 more matches instead of RO32 which is a waste of time
The tournament is every 4 years, if you throw in a lower bracket the games in the knockouts get less hype and the whole event is so much less of a spectacle than it is now. Teams have to give their everything into each game which is why it's always a banger.
