I'm tired of this whole debate on whether or not EWC is mickey mouse. We should all just be friends and just be happy for the teams who won, no more of this bullshit "EWC is mickey", "EWC is irrelevant", etc.

Why can't we all just support our fellow regions. I'm sure this narrative would've been wayyy different had it been Americas or APAC that won last year. It's insane how much of an irrational hatred y'all have on EMEA & EWC as a whole. EWC is still very well important & there's a large prizepool which will help many players & organizations. I'm not saying EWC should count as a trophy, but to make all these narratives and shit talking EMEA (or whoever wins) just screams agony to me

you're right that people use it as a free excuse to shittalk emea and will do again if emea wins for sure, in the same way people use CN teams getting grouped as an excuse to shittalk their region. or in fact what people used to do to APAC whenever someone like DRX/PRX choked in the playoffs when their region was trophy-less. it's just the way of sports fans best of luck changing it

the reason why it feels mickey is because it's not a VCT event it's just a random event thrown in mid-season because they have the money to be able to get away with it. Sure VCT regionals qualify you for it but they almost never mention it on broadcast. If you watch NBA it feels a bit like the NBA cup they randomly added mid-season, or football perhaps the nations league. Just random nonsense they added because $$$ always wins

there's no history or valid reason for it to exist. I mean it isnt even a world cup lmfao they just stole that name to make it sound cool it's the usual teams. the real valorant world cup is coming later and as you've seen people are genuinely excited and interested in that. i think it's worth noting the difference between the way people treat the two because nobody is calling that a fraud cup or a mickey even though objectively nation-teams are WAY less fairly selected than org teams (some nations have way more talent and there's literally nothing you can do about it)

personally i dont mind it since i get to watch more valo but at a certain point adding more tournaments is just harmful to competitive integrity, particularly when it exists independently of the existing masters/champs system

Wendler got robbed mid game, EDG arent even trying. I am a big fan of EMEA (duh) but this should not be used as an achievement but rather some games you can watch for fun if your bored and for the teams to make money.
