Unless there is a deep, cultural thing going on. But even then, many people have tough war stories that carry cultural impact over many areas and shooting bodies in a video game doesn't offend ALL of them.

Not all players seek validation that cones from being liked. Also, playing "villain" is a thing with many sports players.
That CAN cause negative reaction from community and fans. Remember how BBL were received during the Masters?
I do NOT remember there being death threats or irrelevant personal swearing at the players though.
Fans will obviously be annoyed when their players are being targeted by enemy team player mocking or trash talk, but it's a fair game between players, on the stage. After the game, fans should know their place and keep their comments within the acceptable level of criticism.
