true. why would a team qualify over a team they lost to? these people don't use logic
because it rewards beating teams worse than you. hypothetically, ENVY could have 2-0d G2 and MIBR, but lost to C9 and LOUD and hence they would miss playoffs. Nobody thinks that beating C9/ENVY is a more impressive feat than beating MIBR and G2, but that is what is rewarded. Beating the teams around you
the alternatives are just as bad if not worse though, as just going off of map differential rewards stomping the shit teams instead of close wins over the top teams, which implies a much higher ceiling as a team. the real truth is that they should just play a tiebreaker game
this wouldn't be an issue if they didn't lose to an assistant coach. The first solution to your problems are always, just beat the teams you are supposed to
sure, but we can remove ENVY from the situation and talk conceptually. there is no tiebreaker that prioritises beating the top teams instead of just stomping the shitters unless you use some complex points system rewarded based upon the seed you beat which would never work. if we are unhappy with head 2 head we should switch to a BO3 tiebreaker
I’m surprised head to head is so controversial. If you have a two team tie and the teams played each other, isn’t head to head the most logical first thing to look at to break the tie?
