even if we set bare minimum as making it playoffs international tournament, I feel like since start league, only players in this role who can truly be said to compete at that level internationally are Boaster and Boo (and Boo is already past his peak).
Watching Vitality’s recent performances has only strengthened that belief.
Honestly, what do people think? Doesn’t it feel like this role, more than any other, is seriously lacking in talent compared to other regions?
I would say ange1 before 2024 could also be included in the same category with boo and boaster
I feel like we've reached a point in the game where igling can essentially be taught, so it's more of a coaching problem than an igling problem imo. rounds can be very "formulaic" so the coach can tell players if X happens, respond with Y. same for pre round calls where you can decide what to do based on ult orbs and ults which is the reason a person like ethan who looked complete ass in 24 looked like a pretty good igl in 25. could he have improved? definitely, but I think a bigger part is that bonkar simply told him what to do (though there's other factors like having vocal players like s0m on the team of course)
if you look at apac and americas there isn't really a significant number of igls you can call good either. for apac it'd be munchkin, for americas it'd be valyn
I think it depends on the bar your leveling to,
Does America's or apac have more than a couple IGL's that you can set the bare minimum as top 8 team in the world (playoffs of an international event).
Yeah probably munchkin & Valyn. Maybe Ethan (granted he's been shown to struggle without the NRG system being able to prep). Maybe Saadhak or Kingg if he can keep up their current runs but both have very questionable parts of their credibility.
There are other good IGL's running around but they're not at that bar and most of them are compatible to EMEA IGL's currently performing like sociable or Rose.
Tbh there are as many good igls internationally as emea if you set the standards like that and even then a lot of how good some are is incredibly team reliant the era of having igls who do literally everything is long gone it just isn't good and the sooner teams move on from it the better their igls will get
