China is getting gapped

Comments:

I feel like we're reaching a point in Valorant Esports where China will just never be better than the other 3 regions. It's the same as LCS and LEC in League where they simply can't compete at international events cuz the LCK and LPL teams just gap them like it's nothing (unless you're like BLG or something).

As China got the game later than the rest of the world, it feels like their learning curve is linear relative to the learning curve of the rest of the world, which means they'll literally never be better than Americas, EMEA or Pacific cuz the other 3 got the game early so they essentially had a headstart.

china just needs import coaches to develop and they'll catch up
granted, much easier said than done, but it's true

A Chinese team won champs with a Chinese coach. Import coaches can help, but it's really a matter of studying the micro and macro more thoroughly. Sliggy, an ex-coach and streamer, pretty much avoids watchpartying VCT CN because they lack a lot of the traditional macro understanding and often do things which are not what you would expect in any other league. VCT CN has the wow-factor coming from their mechanical aimers, but they lack a concrete understanding of how to shift the map consistently.

China will be better as soon as they can ground their understanding of map theory and play the maps how they were intended. From there, they can incorporate some of those crazy plays and reads similar to how PRX function.

That learning curve argument is dumb. You act like they're still learning viper lineups or something. I feel like it's not that, it might just be that they haven't tried enough teams/players to get the right talent pool yet like other regions have.

Talent pool is literally not the problem at all when they have edg.

Tbh, I think the issue is their macro is dogshit and the lack of discipline in many instances is apparent. Honestly like grab a coach from another region and see how that goes.

they are improving like xlg would of won if they didnt throw the 2v2

they'll be fine they just need one team with real macro to appear and the rest of the region will follow

till then they can stick to getting grouped though

Not necessarily, china got the population and capital they just need better coaching staff.

chinas issues stem from it being extremely hard to scout talent and the lack of good coaches. hvoya is maybe the only good coach in the region. these issues are very fixable just requires a lot of changes.

Im not familiar with league do LCS or LEC have a trophy? And a podium? Like I agree china are behind but they have a champs and wolves and EDG came third last year.

Europe (LEC didn't exist back then) had a trophy in like the dinosaur era of League with FNC winning Worlds 2011, but ever since franchising began in League they haven't won anything. LCS (or North America) on the other hand hasn't won anything period, and both of these regions are widely considered the worst in LoL Esports, even though they do have some iconic players like Caps and Bjergsen

So it’s not comparable then 😭 I feel like people overstate how bad china is like they have rough events like champs last year but other than that they hold their own most events

Actually the LEC has a trophy and both the LEC and LCS have many podium finishes

Lol is just korean top teams with a pinch of China and the Europeans and american teams aren't even considered as real slots anymore

the only Worlds trophy the West has in the history of league is from a tournament that Asia didn’t play.

they do have an MSI trophy though but a lot of people don’t really care about it. it’s like the equivalent of EWC in val, it’s cool to have. I won’t say it’s like a Masters because people still treat Masters as comparable to Champs whereas in League Worlds is everything.

Nah msi since 2023 is way more relevant than ever. Arguably has better format than even worlds. Just pure skill wise harder to win too ngl. Worlds is mostly about pressure.

maybe msi has a better format but trust me even chovy would hand over all his msi trophies if it means he gets to win worlds even once. the prestige worlds has will never be reached by msi.

Lacking on coaching side, having import coaches will also be no help as the players mostly can't understand basic english

It will for sure help even if it's temporary solution. Best coaches in china are all foreigners for example like bail, hvoya, etc. those coaches have at least improved the macro aspect of their teams quite a bit even if they aren't as good as top coaches from other regions.

Like edg could literally hire mini like zeta did.

CN is quite imrpoving tbh. The only problem is the lack of coaching and scouting refinement.

Wait what are you people talking about, like before santiago began all i could see was how chinese teams gonna dominate santiago, now people are talking about them that they are improving.

people just like to rage bait people. That just vlr users nature and primal instinct since the Big Bang. Nobody actually think ch0na dominate not even a chinese with a down syndrome believe. Those post threads glazing ch0na are parentless attention beggars. They lack family affectionate so they have to rage bait people in vlr just to feel a little warm of human interaction

genuine question, but i heard a while ago that kids aren't allowed to play more than three hours a day-- is that why the talent there is kinda mid? idk much about china

How is the talent mid? They have so many amazing players. Man people just don't understand how val esports work even in big 2026 lol. Like bruh you have nrg flair. What do you think is the biggest strength of nrg? Don't tell me you think it's individual talent.

obviously i dont LMAO i just like to hate but yknow. The only CN content i'm getting is from internationals, and they never fail to shit the bed. (edg 2024 was the single outlier) China's been in the league for a while now, and a majority of the teams do horribly at ints. I know very well that individual skill isn't the single most issue, but since 2024 (and SLIGHTLY wolves in toronto) CN teams have been multiple levels beneath every other region. SOMETHING is going on over there bro, even if it's not individual skill. also, when I say talent, I don't just mean shooting, yknow...

edg took 3 years of competing internationally until they won

china will eventually catch up

Never Say Never
I mean people thought China would never catch up before EDG showed up.
EU and NA in League is not comparable because they have never really came close to the glory that China has already achieved in like a quarter of the time. The hard constraint of the player base numbers (China and Korea dwarfs every other region combined) is not a problem with Valorant. Are you sure you want to to hold up to your assessment when Valorant esports is not even a decade in?

they need good coaching staff
