First off, no hate to Kaplan; he was a big part of the past couple of years that were super entertaining as a SEN fan. But so many people are bashing the decision to fire him and the statements Rob is making, and I think, for the most part, everyone's looking at it wrong.

It's ultimately just transparency and a path forward from the ownership perspective. This offseason was really weird for SEN, and they made a bunch of moves that didn't make sense, and it turns out that Kaplan pushed these moves that SEN ownership wasn't on board with. If you're the head coach of an org and you go against ownership to make a really bold roster decision, and then that decision blows up, then you're going to face the consequences. Kaplan decided to drop one of the best players in the entire game, as well as switch his proven IGL who took him to 6 internationals, and this is the consequence of that. It's not just that the kickoff didn't go well; it's that Kaplan went directly against the wishes of the org to make risky decisions that blew up the core of a roster that was clearly capable of competing at a very high level, and it did not pan out at all.

So often, we as fans get annoyed when orgs make decisions and don't explain their thought process, or give a clear vision for the future, so I appreciate the way that SEN is being open about where they're at. Now, does Rob speak very bluntly at times? Yes, but I much prefer that to the ultra-corporate responses or not hearing anything at all. This guy clearly cares about the team and wants them to win, and it's nice to see the thought process behind his decisions, even if it is communicated in a blunt manner.

Fr, it's just nice to see a team and org that clearly cares, even if they don't do everything I agree with, you can't say they dont care

There’s always 2 sides to the story I don’t think Kaplan terrorised the team that badly as Rob makes it out but he did do wrong and that’s what he get punished for

Eh, I mean all Rob said was that Kaplan didn't want Zekken as duelist and John as IGL, that alone is enough to tear down the team imo. He's not blaming Kaplan for anything besides that

He backed down the 2 people that made him good for rookies which is strange choice but I think he wanted to prove he can do it with rookies over vets

Yeah, and he did it against SEN ownership, and it didn't work at all, hence the firing

Yeah I think it’s cus the players said it was not gonna work

Yeah everyone knew SEN was not on pace to make a major let alone win one, and the players felt that too

It must be tough as SEN fans to witness this.

This offseason and kickoff has been terrible, but I am glad that this decision has been made

Tbh the whole zekken situation is where I am curious. I know Rob said something about Zekken getting a absurdly good offer from MIBR that SEN could not match earlier, but now he said kaplan wanted zekken out. It would be absurd for kaplan to want zekken out considering how good of a duelist he was last year and previously as well. It just feels like Rob is putting the blame on Kaplan for that change, because it feels far more likely that SEN didn't provide a good enough counter for zekken to stay. Kaplan should've been cut for the other decisions but yea, that felt weird.

Yeah I mean, we don't know everything obv, but it seems like Kaplan wasn't that interested in keeping him, and at the very least, there was no talk of him being the main guy on Duelist. I think that's why MIBR gave him an offer he couldn't refuse, because Kaplan was moving in a different direction, and MIBR was willing to heavily invest in Zekken while we weren't. But that's speculation so who knows.

Either way I'm upset cause zekken was my favorite player and its sad to see him on a different team

Thats true, it just doesn't make sense if Rob's story is true because theres no way a competent coach would sacrafice of zekken of all players. I would be fighting like hell to keep that guy in the roster. But I guess kaplan wasn't that competent.

That's why SEN fans have been so confused this offseason lol. How'd we lose that guy out of everyone???

what i understood was that kaplan wanted zellsis and narrate on the team for sure and that the others were just trialing and rob mentioned that zekken was off duelist and was on controller. zekken trialed with sen and mibr as controller and felt that playing with aspas was way better which is why he signed with them. i saw someone mention that one of the reasons why zellsis didn’t sign with sen was because zekken wasn’t on the team

Yeah I think that Zellsis saw the direction that Kaplan was going and rightfully got out of there lol. Plus, having him, john, and kyu just doesn't make sense, even with all the other nonsensical decisions that were made this offseason.

Have genuinely always appreciated the transparency from SEN, they’ve been like this from the jump and whether it’s good news or bad they’ve never ever tried to hide from it or brush it off.

Yeah it feels like he's been behind the meta ever since tejo got nerfed at the start of last year tbh. He was a great coach in terms of lifting the players up the past couple of years, but yeah made some huge mistakes this offseaon that cant really be reconciled

Feel like it's reasonable to not like the fanbase, as many people who aren't really fans of the game are "SEN fans", but overall the org and Rob Moore are pretty solid
