My gpu just died and I can’t stand not playing on my pc. Just checked new gpu prices and they’re like more than 40% higher from their msrps. Thoughts or suggestions please.

nvr will im so sorry from 2025 you need to dump ur life saving to get one valid gpu💔
i cant say for sure, but i remember reading some technical investment analysis that the next sector set to see price increases is GPUs. wouldnt take it as a confirmed fact i suppose
They’re already way above msrp though. I checked yesterday and rtx 5060ti 16gb for example is like almost 550 bucks alr
Honestly might have to wait for the AI bubble to burst. NVIDIA decided not to provide GPU ram with their kits to 3rd party vendors so they have to source their own ram in this economy. Prices will probably keep going up.
Choose intel or amd as ur next gpu
Other than that, you just have to wait for prices to fall or a sale
Actually great advice cause the older generation cards are aging like fine wine. I got a 3060 12 gig for relatively cheap and for the games I play it's insanely good value.
My gpu was rtx 3060ti but it keeps dying after a couple of seconds. Its out of warranty and they said I will have to look for someone who can repad or repaste the gpu :(
That was the exact card I wanted to get as well but the second hand listing vanished very quickly. I ended up getting a new 3060 for 240 around so it wasn't a terrible deal.
What if they sell me a defective one? Like my old gpu sometimes works but sometimes doesn’t. I’m scared I might get something like that used.
The 30 and 40 series really aren't bad, I have a 30 smth TI in my personal machine and it runs everything you could want perfectly fine (unless ur doing like advanced graphics and rendering/modelling stuff). Honestly RAM is gonna cook u more.
it's just a bear market. right now is actually a great time to buy before its too late.
My gpu just died, if I gotta buy rn, it’s gotta be something with graphics no?
LLM ai are such nonsense it pisses me off thats the reason ppl cant afford pc's
They dont need to hoarde gpus per se, they need powerful processing units so they can output the content that you request and that requires power. And currently the only company that is able to supply that is nvidia, and nvidia (and all other big companies such as amd intel apple) get their chips from 1 specific company in taiwan. Since ai companies are buying so much computing power companies find that much more profitable for them than producing consumer units so they make less consumer units and focus on the ai models
Also there is a shortage in dram which is the main component in gpus currently that is increasing the price
For a big while for ai companies the fastest way to grow is to have a larger database which meant just buying more ai cards from nvidia and throwing them in a warehouse (but now its gotten to the point where database power and size affects the ai bot less than actual software and llm progress [like claude code by anthropic] so database building should theoretically decrease however thats very unlikely)
Do you think gpu prices will eventualy go down this year still or so? What do you recommend?
yeah dont worry. NVIDIA is gonna release the 6000 series in a couple years so the 5000 series can go down in price and then the market for used 4000 series cards will be affordable 😀👍
if you’re gonna buy do it Now. nvidia is trying to shut down public production and they’re already doing it somewhat due to vram demand
maybe try facebook marketplace since ur in the UK? idk how good it is for GPUs but maybe worth a look
