yeah old harbor was much better
New harbor feels like they tried to make him into too much of a traditional smoker
Riot needs more pro players assisting the dev/testing team
They just removed his best ability and removed what made him unique
Based on previous nerfs/buffs, feels like they lack the understanding of WHY an agent is picked or not picked, because they lack a pro players understanding of the meta/comps
don't know man, I feel like even pro players, coaches, analysts,... don't even realize how good certain agents are or how they can be used most of the times. I heard the dev team talk about Veto underperforming compared to Tejo and Clove on release but said he didn't need a buff because people haven't unlocked his full potential yet or not really playing into his strengths yet. Look at how long it took for Yoru to become popular.
Yoru was a bit different, because he so abysmally dogshit for years that it’s understandable no one really wanted to play him because people had put way more time into other agents by the time he became good, and as long as Jett had 4.5 second smokes she still hard cleared him
It took Jett and skye nerfs for the buffs to be relevant
I don’t get ur point either, sure the pro scene is slow on getting meta reads or agent reads but they are still better than riot, who look at purely pick rate statistics but don’t interpret them correctly
About Yoru, he was buffed in the beginning of 2022, he received barely any changes until the big nerfs halfway 2025. that's a good 3 years. You could say there was no reason to not play jett because she was very meta until like end of 2023, but I don't feel like Jett and Yoru contest each others spot that much, the playstyle for a team around Yoru is so much different compared to when you only have a jett. Like you have to fundamentally change your gameplan if you're going with jett or yoru as a duelist. It is still a major shortcoming to me how long Yoru was neglected (sure I'm biased). I don't really remember the timeline around the skye nerfs but she also doesn't really contest yoru in a team comp imo. sure you have the info flashes and the dog, but yoru in itself is a whole ass info gatherer.
I think it would be better if Riot consulted non affiliated or retired pro players for their opinion on things. But it's also dangerous cause ifl if someone knows something before anyone else there could be an unfair advantage somewhere.
Slye only left the meta after 2024
She was useful as both a recon and flash init. Part of yoru’s current popularity is because he’s directly subs flash inits in a lot of comps
Jett having 4.5 smokes is really op, because it allows you to isolate fights better when entering and keeping you safe for long a time. After she got nerfed, people still played her due to comfort, and neon got a buff by the time people realized she was no longer op
Tho is was in 2024, when skye was still popular, so yoru was still not played due to these reasons
I get why he wasn't played, I disagree that it was a better choice to not play him. he was overlooked until he wasn't, that was my point.
cascade was that man's saving grace and now it's gone riot may as well have shot him in the streets 12 times
