Ever since nrg won champions this sense of wonder in my mind has been gone

Seeing such a bad team fluke in such a clear manner killed the idea that champions winners and mvps are the absolute height of the game.

Champion mvps used to be the best and they used to have aura..
Zeek, aspas, demon1, kangkang.. I can watch these players and be excited... but with brawk? Not at all

Has there ever been a champions winner less deserving?
With acend there isn't a single team at champions 21 that would have beat them and they proved that by regularly beating gambit
Same for loud
Same for eg
Same for edg

But with nrg even some of nrgs biggest fans will tell you that they would have lost to g2 without a doubt. This is proven since g2 beat them in stage 2 and in the off-season but nrg escaped their fate in Champs. Seeing a clearly superior team finish 7th-8th while their dogs got 1st is a tragedy

Excited to see babybay destroy champions winners all season i guess 😜

the problem with g2 is that they exposed their strats too much. they choked at bangkok and should have won when no one had film on them. after that they just had no real chance. meanwhile nrg took everyone by storm as teams didn't anti them as much as fnatic paper rex and g2.

If we are going by this logic, then it’s safe to say that they wouldn’t have even met NRG even if they beat PRX since their kryptonite FNC is there who eliminated them from Champions Seoul and Masters Toronto

Similar story with EG, their run gets discredited because they didn’t meet FNC but whose fault is that really?

EG might've lost to FNC, and EDG did lose to G2. It's just the way it goes sometimes.

Resilience and stamina are just as important to winning champs as having the highest peak

Acend? Disappeared for 2021 then suddenly win against a burnt out Gambit

EDG? Fluked their way after being shit in front of their home crowd.

NRG? Had to face a tired FNC after making two deep runs in Masters and EWC

LOUD? Fluked their way to a champions trophy by facing a tired OPTIC who almost got reverse swept the game prior and dodged FPX (clear best team that got unlucky by gavin the goats DRX twice)

EG? Average PRX choke and dodged FNC in playoffs, they should be thankful that LOUD saved their asses from both teams (PRX and EG)

Saying that they choked so many grand finals is doing disservice to the other teams they lost to and giving them too much credit. They only choked the EWC final vs TH where they were up 2-0 and lost the next 3 maps in close fashion. NRG and PRX were just better than them on that day
