are g2 player ratings inflated

I have a hypothesis:

Because G2 players in general have a playstyle that revolves around high levels of teamplay and kill trading, they tend to have much better stats overall than they should as separate individuals.

Add on the fact that they as a team are basically always winning games in region and making deep runs internationally: an argument could be made that their winningness means that despite single player inconsistencies between maps, the average performance of the team system results in high ratings for all players when looked at comprehensively.

It is possible that while G2 has very solid players, if you isolated them from their team system they would experience a larger statistical drop than other players.

evidence: they made n0t, t0x, and s0y0pl0y0r look like good players

cause they couldnt form a coherent roster until stage 2 where they had a new coach and texs role changed due to having sato and okeanos

you're mixing up the fact that they have a good system and how stats work. Your hypothesis about net, tex, etc... (including babybay btw) is right but stats have nothing to do with this. You're good=you have good stats, and in fact relying heavily on trading a lot doesn't give you good individual stats because it means your system relies on people dying a lot (bad for stats, that is precisely why PRX players generally don't have crazy stats internationally even in deep runs)

trading is the only thing that relies on death
everything else about their teamplay is just good coordination and team chemistry that comes with keeping a core for this long under one coach

And I don't see how that would inflate stats lol

coordinated flood retakes, crossfires, coordinated swings, tight positioning

It's the opposite. G2 relies on discipline and taking fights in a smarter way, which causes less unnecessary/avoidable deaths, and that inflate stats in a way

that's what im saying???? wdym opposite
when they do die it is usually instantly traded because unlike a PRX player who would just ego swing they would rather just wait for their teammate to group and swing with them

but they don't play for trades, they play for maximized 1v1's. it's not trading, it's assisting and facilitating kills by util usage. trading is unavoidable on a fps game in a way so they do it well because they play by the books but their main goal is to avoid it to maintain man advantage and space control

maybe there's something im not understanding here, but wouldn't a team that wins a lot have high ratings among the players on that team?

that's what I said
its harder to have bad stats if you are in a team that just wins

it's also possible to have a bad rating on a good team though
LEV placed 5th/6th in Stage 2, where everyone on the team had around/above a 1.0 rating, except for tex, with a 0.83 rating

assume an avg rating of 1.0 and chart out regular team distributions compared to g2

I do think their ratings are less skewed compared to other team, but idk

tldr: with good team coordination, good macro, good micro, good general understanding of the game, and good counterplay, a team and their players are able to do well

tf are you trying to say? that because team chem matters as much if not more than individual skill, that the players that play well are not good players??
