why do some people use one over the other? for example, benjyfishy uses the English flag, and Boaster uses the UK flag. why would a player use one over the other?
i know they obviously don't represent the same thing but what influences a player's choice on which one to use
Idk if the players give it much thought but the English flag represents just England while the Union Jack reps Scotland wales n Northern Ireland as well… maybe those players have roots there and wanna rep that or maybe their specific nationality isn’t known so they get the uk flag n vice versa

also for economic reasons because a lot of northern states waste billions on sending aid money to southern states, so they'd save billions in taxes lol

Britain/the United Kingdom is more of a political entity, while the specific nations within the Union have more of a connection to cultural identity, England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland are very unique from one another
But everyone has their own reasons ig
so some people feel closer to their own national identity (so they choose England) and some people don't feel as close to their national identity (so they choose UK)?
I think its more they dont really care whereas I was in a relationship with a Scottish person for years so Im used to making the distinction?
I feel like the UK nations outside of England are more likely to identify with their individual nations whereas English people are the most likely to just have the Union Jack flag.
But for me personally it would feel weird to call both me and my partner British so I was a lot more aware of the stark differences between the two and I "feel" more English cause Im more aware of how different the other UK countries are.
Some people feel a very strong connection to the country within the UK that they're from, some just think of themselves as generally British and don't care that much about specific heritage and shit, though most people (at least here in Wales) who don't like to think of themselves as British and are super die hard about Welsh not British type shit are older

there is basically no distinction, ppl who are scottish irish and welsh might actually be making a statement for not using the UK flag because many ppl have reasons to dislike the UK flag or want independence ETC but afaik the only time the difference between the UK and England flag has been used politically was far right groups but afaik BOTH flags have been used as symbols for far right groups so idek what statement someone english would be making by using one over the other

i feel a stronger connection to england than britain tbh, the international team i support is england, the language i speak is english, the people around me are english etc "britain" just feels more like a political union to me and i dont have a connection to NI/Wales/Scotland
